BMW Motorrad has announced the release of the new BMW S1000XR, an adventure sports model that combines long-distance riding with sports performance.
The new BMW S1000XR is an adventure sports model that offers high sporty riding performance reminiscent to a circuit-riding while providing a comfortable ride and high functionality even for long-distance touring. The newly developed engine, which is based on the new BMW S1000RR supersport model for circuit riding, optimizes the gear ratio appropriately for adventure sports models to provide a more comfortable ride over a wider range of revolution. Its engine has a max output of 121kW (165ps) / 11,000rpm and a max torque of 114Nm / 9,250rpm.
Also, by optimizing the gear of the 4th, 5th, and 6th speed (long ratio), the engine speed is reduced to suppress the noise even in riding in the suburbs, to improve the fuel efficiency. Then, the anti-hopping clutch that became smoother, the electronically controlled engine drag torque control (MSR)* is equipped for the first time as a model, to suppress the rear wheel slip during sudden start and shift down.
