VanVan 200 Owner's Review

We will introduce "Mr. 17191216" passionate story about his riding experience with his beloved motorcycle, VanVan 200, from Webike community "My Beloved Moto" campaign.

He shared with us the advantages and disadvantages review of the VanVan 200, which he knows well because he's the owner.

Brief self-introduction

  • Motorcycle history: My first hero was Masaru Mizutani
  • How I usually enjoy my motorcycle: Nowadays, I ride solo on a day trip, occasionally commute to work, and take a long ride once or twice a year. (sorry)
  • How long have I been riding this motorcycle: 3 and a half year
  • Motive for purchase: I was supposed to get a SEROW, but then I met this motorcycle on a famous blog.
  • Purpose: Ride anytime, anywhere at your own pace aiming for a stress-free riding performance, comfort and versatility.

Satisfactory/advantages

  • For purpose: Ride at your own pace anytime, anywhere.
Sprocket 41T, GIVI 43L, wind protection (replaced seasonally). ProGrip + Posh Ultra Heavy is very effective for vibration control. It has a good fuel efficiency and if I don't drive around the city, I always get 40K per liter (but high octane) and the maintenance costs are low because it doesn't have anything on it.
  • Riding: There is nothing special to mention. But it makes me feel like I can ride anywhere and I can control the brakes with a radio control.
  • For appearance: Headlight, fuel tank, seat, exhaust system, front and rear tires. If you change anything, it is not a VanVan, the whole set is my favorite. I'll leave it to the Yankees to make the front fat and replace the exhaust system. The larger blinkers are also cool.

Dissatisfactory/Disadvantage

When comparing it to other motorcycles, it is slow, has more vibration, old fashioned, low-tech, and does not bluff. But what matters the most is the feeling of fullfillment or a sense of satisfcation.

  • For the purpose: The standard gear is too low.
  • For riding: If you don't rush, there are no complaints.
  • For appearance: There's no difference.

In addition, if you have an FI model then you're more likely to stalling at traffic lights, you should be able to fix it by raising the idling speed a little bit. I think it's just a little too low in shipping.

Summary (Recommended for riders)

I think motorcycles will become more and more high-tech and electronic. Motorcycle's engine and other parts will become more and more precisely controlled due to exhaust gas regulations. It increases the sense of precision mechanics, but on the other hand, it's also cramped and hard to breathe.

The VanVan is a relic of the good old days of Showa. I don't have all the nicest things about my new high-tech motorcycle, but I have everything I lost in exchange for high tech. If you're interested, give it a try.

With VanVan 200, you can even ride that night's ferry if you want to. It might be the smallest motorcycle, but it'll get us to the same place.
