The LS2 Challenger F full-face helmet went on sale on October 16, 2020. It has only been on sale for about a month, but it is already enjoying high popularity, with some sizes already sold out. We borrowed the helmet from Seiden Corporation, the official distributor of LS2 in Japan, to find out why it is so popular.

Where is the LS2 helmet from anyway?
When you hear the word "helmet", which brand comes to your mind? Most of you probably think of Arai, Shoei, OGK Kabuto... but of course, there are many more helmet manufacturers in the world. LS2 is a helmet manufacturer based in Barcelona, Spain, and was founded in 1990. Initially, the company was founded in a small building with only two members, but in just ten years, they have expanded their business and now boast one of the largest production scales in the world.
What is a full face helmet Challenger F?
It is one of the company's global strategic models and is developed as a full-face helmet for touring. The cap is made of LS2's original high-performance fiberglass material, which is lightweight, highly durable and shock-absorbent. The design incorporates a flowing, three-dimensional press line and rectifying spoilers on the sides and rear to create an aerodynamic design. It also features an inner visor, which is essential for touring models, and like the helmet shield, it has a 94% UV protection specification, so you can keep a clear view even on sunny days. In addition, the LS2 is known for its luxurious interior, and the cheek pads are 3D laser cut to fit the curves of the face.

The reason why Challenger F is popular No.1 [Lightness of the cap]
The lightness of the cap can be felt the moment you pick it up. It is not as compact as SHOEI Z-7 in appearance because of its edgy aero design and spoiler, but considering that it has a lot of ventilation to keep comfort and inner visor, as a touring helmet I think it is in the category of the lightest weight.
The reason why Challenger F is popular No.2 [Gorgeous accessories]
It is not only the cap that is equipped with luxury. The accessories are also attached to a lot of this. To be honest, I think that there is no other helmet with a price of less than 30,000 yen (excluding tax) that contains so much content.
- Pinlock shield
- Slit Rubber Ring for Eyeglasses (Right and Left)
- Helmet Pillow
- Carry bag for helmet
The helmet pillow and carry bag are especially nice for me personally because I can carry them and use them where I carry them.
Reasons why the Challenger F is popular #3 [Low price]
When you want to go touring on a motorcycle, you need to have a helmet, gloves, jacket, boots, bag, and many other things. Helmets are among the most expensive, but that doesn't mean you can't choose a cheap or bad one. As the name suggests, the Challenger F is a model that literally "takes on the challenge" in terms of performance and cost performance.

[About the fitting] Although there are individual differences, it feels as if it wraps around your entire head, with the two points around your jaw and temples where it hardens when you put pressure on your back teeth. I did not feel any strange pressure or headache, which is common with helmets made overseas.
[About ventilation] It was early December, and the temperature in the early morning was less than 5 degrees Celsius, so when the ventilation was fully open, cold air came in, and I could see the effect on the contrary. You can feel the cool air coming in through the chin area on all sides, running down the sides of your cheekbones and exiting into the ducts at the back of your head, so I think you can really feel the effect, especially in the summer.
[Just a few things that bothered me] The shield is designed to be locked, but the tab on the shield itself is right in the middle of the front (right above the lock), making it difficult to open the shield. I think it's just a matter of getting used to it and the fact that I was operating it with fuzzy winter gloves.
But the main reason it's so popular is simply that it's cool!
I've been focusing on the contents and equipment regarding the merits of the Challenger F, but this helmet is just so cool. The combination of the edgy form and the matte titanium color is particularly well-matched, and it's no wonder it's sold out. I hear more and more stores are stocking them these days, so I highly recommend picking one up!
