Underbone such as the CUB that cannot escape from the image of business motorcycle in Japan are one of the biggest sports motorcycle categories overseas, especially in Asia!
Certainly, in a country where the race is active, it is because after parts and tire development are also active. This time, from such an Asian racing scene, the webike staff will make a test review by actually wearing the high grip tires that can be worn in a real CUB.

1. SUPERCORSA for the CUB named "PIRELLI DIABLO ROSSO CORSA II"
The ROSSO CORSA II itself is used by many riders as a sports tire mainly for large sports bikes.
As mentioned above, the tire introduced in this article is Rosso Corsa II for underbones (in other words, there is a size that can be put on a CUB) that Pirelli brought in from Asia, where racing is thriving!
Until now, BRIDGESTONE BT-39SS was the most common high-grip tire for the CUB, but now there is another choice! And more than anything, the day when can talk story other than about durability and cost performance for the CUB tire finally came.
2. The based compound is SUPERCORSA SC V3!
The ROSSO CORSA II is based on the compound of SUPERCORSA SC2 which has the top performance among the high-grip tires with a groove of PIRELLI, and is a carbon black 100% compound.
Since the ROSSO CORSA II is close to the compound of SC2, it can demonstrate a grip in a wide temperature range. In addition, it is designed so that it can also perform on Asian roads, so ROSSO CORSA II can be a perfect match not only in the circuit course but also on city roads.
Speaking of SUPERCORSA, this is a monster tire that has demonstrated tremendous performance in sunday races of over the world, but it means that the compound is used to this tire, PIRELLI is quite serious. With this fact alone, I can expect considerable performance.
3. The reason why this high grip tire suit to the CUB is profile?
The completely new design profile has pursued racing performance and is different from normal sport tires. The adopted composite profile called the multi-radius enables quick turning direction and the raised tread height works to alleviate the impact of straight travel.
In addition, the air volume secured more than normal provides high shock absorption and high tolerance against unexpected behavior and gaps.
Quick lane change, Shock absorption, and Gap tolerance. What? This tire is quite good for commuting.
4. Cool tread pattern
Speaking of PIRELLI grooved high grip tires, it is the familiar lightning "Flash Pattern". Certainly, the pattern is also engraved in the DIABLO ROSSO CORSA II.
This grooves are made with emphasis on the grip performance on the dry condition as the ratio of grooves area to the whole surface area of tire is 5% or less, but, surprisingly, it has secured enough drainage performance in the rainy weather, so it is a tire that does not as weak in the rain as it looks. Rather, the overall grip performance is better, so it grips in the rain also better than some durability tires. I will explain more detail in the test ride review section.
This design is a very appealing point because there is no such an aggressive appearance tire for the CUB so far. As for the weight, it was obviously lighter compared to the used BT39SS by hand manual measurment.
It contributes to weight reduction. The tire change was easy because it is quite soft!
5. Test ride review: Webike staffs tested this tire by actual riding!
I wrote a lot of difficult stories about specification of the tire, but In the case of tire, the reviews actually experienced are the most helpful. For that reason, I interviewed the two Webike staff who really love the underbones about the test ride review of the DIABLO ROSSO CORSA II!
I was able to listen a very realistic reviews because they used the tire for commuting about a month instead of a short including a rainy day, a sunny day, and a day when they were almost late to the office section.
★Motorcycle and Air Pressure
・YAMAHA X1R135: 2.8-3kg for city riding, touring main, and two-seater
・HONDA DREAM 110 (Vietnamese CUB): both front and rear 2.0kg
★Usage: Mainly commuting. Sometimes touring
★Period of Use: About 1 month from wearing
★Travel Distance: around 1000km (700km for touring)
6. The best dry grip performance in the city!: The grip performance on the dry condition of the city riding is excellent, the other tires can not compete!
Before the first riding, I underestimated the tires "It seems to be a high grip, but it's for the CUB", but in a good way, my expectations were greatly betrayed.
When I actually ride on, I felt overwhelmingly better than the specs of the document. I firmly felt the tire grounding at first. As for the ride comfort, the ROSSO CORSA II has a high flat ratio, so even riding on the fine gaps that have been felt unpleasant until now, it was not juddered, and there is also moderate feedback from the road surface, so the ride feeling was quite good.
▲ Aggressive tires for the CUB
Moreover, because of the excellent gripping power, I thought it is impossible to slip this tire in the city riding! There's probably no tire that gives the grip feeling like this.
7. Quick, but stable! Changing the lane is fun
The most impressive part of the city riding environment was the quick stability when the lane change. It feels a bit contradictory to be stable even though it's quick, but I really thought to put out the movement of the lane change in the street and I make the line that I drew firm and quickly.
However, when the lane change was completed, the original straight-line stability is restored without overshooting or shaking. To be honest, I was quite surprised by this.
Certainly, when commuting on the main street where the lane changing is frequent, this is a considerable point because it is a point where the difference comes out in the correspondence to the vehicle and the pedestrian which suddenly jumps out.
8. The braking performance also will be better!
The DREAM 110 that is used in the test ride has become a considerable braking force because the brakes are disc brakes.
For this reason, the tires used up until now had a symptom that they would sway during braking and didn't stop, but when I switched to ROSSO CORSA II, I was able to stop steadily without swaying even during full braking! In the sense that I can brake with stability, I feel that the braking distance has also become shorter.
This time, I had also to ride on the highway, but when wearing other tires of the same size, the tires were quite thin and there was a feeling that the circle did not come out when running at high speed, however, it seems that I was able to run with stability even when riding at high speed.
9. The performance in the wet condition is good for high grip tire
The tire that was used commonly to running on a circuit is the image that it is a little bit slippery on a rainy day. This image is the same for everyone, right?
Well, how was the ROSSO CORSA II that I tried at this time... Surprisingly, I was able to run without hesitation just like a normal street riding tire. I could not feel the slipping behavior even at the corner, I was able to run with peace of mind.
However, it is prohibited. After all, ROSSO CORSA II is a high grip tire. As you can see from the pattern, there are no grooves on the street side, so drainage is not expected. It is not limited to this tire, but on rainy days it is safe to use with moderation.
10. Winding performance that understands the good taste
Although it doesn't have the same grip as SUPERCORSA, on the contrary, I felt that it was a tire of a convenient standing position for the motorcycle of this class.
This is because underbone motorcycles, including the CUB, are less powerful than big motorcycles. Therefore, if the same gripping power is demonstrated, the power will be lost to the gripping power, and you will feel the sense of being eaten by power.
In the case of ROSSO CORSA II that is introduced this time, the seasoning of the grip feeling is exquisite, and there is a necessary grip, but it is finished in a nice plum that does not kill the power. It seems to be able to run comfortably on the circuit also in winding with "Quick", "Stability", and "Strongest grip" because it is switched and the performance is also high!
11. Usable span can not be expected because of high grip tire?
Since I tried to ask the impressions of the 1st month of use this time, it's an unknown quantity in relation to life. That said, if I deliver an impression with a sense, speculation, and hope, the consumption of tires seems to be faster than the general CUB tires in that high grip.
However, please don't worry, it does not lose quickly. More than anything, if you give up wearing it, it is a good tire as much as waste even if there is no life!
[ROSSO CORSA II Summary of Advantages]
・The strongest grip of a Grip strength is on the way without a rival.
・The appearance is cool with small SUPERCORSA.
・Anyway, I was a running boy in a combat tread pattern and I couldn't help drooling. (Staff talk)
・Since the weight is light, weight reduction can be expected.
・The lane change is super comfortable!
・Since there is a sense of stability also in braking and cornering the motorcycle will not be shaken.
[ROSSO CORSA II Summary of Disdvantages]
・Thunderbolt mark is a little closer to the SUPERCORSA and good
・The rain grip is reasonable (Normal run, no problem!)
12. Conclusion! This is the most recommended tire!
Since the ROSSO CORSA II is a high grip, I thought that it would be fun only on the circuit, but it was deeper than I imagined, A perfect tire for commuting and city riding as I thought it was a tire made for a Japanese commuting CUB.
Since it is a sport tire, it's more like "dry grip" than "all-purpose", the best tire for life and wetness, but there is no doubt that it will be fascinated by the tire performance of a different dimension as it will fall!
If you are lost about the tires due to the gripping power, I will recommend to throw it away right now and wear this tire. No exaggeration, it's amazing.
Until now, most of the tires of this size were classic tires, and the "latest" was the size that cannot be selected by "performance". As a CUB user, I hope that ROSSO CORSA II that I've introduced this time will become a chance to be more chosen as CUB tires.
