Introduction

Motorcycle history

About 30 years.

How I usually enjoy my motorcycle

Around the block.
Every year, I go for one long-distance tour.

The period when I rode it

About 18 years, now in storage in my office.

Motivation to purchase

I remember watching "Seibu Keisatsu" for the first time when I was in elementary school. It was just so cool. I bought several mini motorcycles toys at that time. I also thought the Suzuki RGV250 is good, but I still loved the Katana.

When I was 18, an older colleague of mine rode motorcycles, and from there I obtained a medium-sized license and became a motorcyclist. My senior collegue lend me an older Yamaha Serow 250 not too long after I bought the Suzuki Ran(a scooter) out of nessicity, but when the 250 Katana was released in 1991, I found a great deal of an used one and did not hasitate to buy.

From there, I switched to the ZEPHYR 400 and got off the motorycle for a while, but i got my non-restricted motorcycle license in the last few days of my 20's. The final edition of the KATANA 1100 was released that time and I was debating, but I end up bought a used 1999 model that was almost fully custom, except for the engine.

I went to Mt. Aso in Kyushu and many other places, but as I got older, the riding position became too tough for me and I rode less often. There was a time when I had to let go of it for various reasons such as marriage and child care, but I managed to keep riding until now.

Pros

For usage , riding and appearance

After all, it's the style. I'm sure it's a matter of personal preference, but this motorcycle's looks outstanding.

The new katana was recently released. I don't want to deny it at all, I think it's a whole different bike. My Katana has an air-cooled 4-cylinder Engine, Yoshimura carburetor and muffler. They were there ever since the very first day of my purchase, until now.

The cooling sparking sound you hear from the engine after riding on cold winter is something you couldn't hear and feel on modern motocycles today.

Also, today's motorcycles are becoming more and more electronic. I think it's good, but there are fewer and fewer parts that can be touched by amateurs. In that respect, the old motorcycles are great after all.

Cons

For using , riding and appearance

It's one of the few motorcycles that people can ride and complete the style, although the forward lean is tough.
I also love the meter that moves uniquely. Whoever came up with these gauges has the best taste.
It is a complaint and not a disadvantage, but a merit.

Conclusion (This bike is for you if...)

I recommend it to anyone who likes Katana.

This is an air-cooled, 4-cylinder carburetor models that is no longer available. You may want to be able to put more and more money into it, as there will be concerns about the supply of parts.(I'm almost at the end of my rope) (Laughs)

But my kid love it too. I have owned several of bikes and the katana is still my son's favorite.
