Honda Monkey Owner Review

Webike Community "Let's Talk About Your bike! From the campaign, here's a passionate narrative from "Ky's" who rides the Monkey!
He gave us an in-app review of the Monkey, including the good parts and the frustrating parts, which he understands because he's the owner.

brief self-introduction

Motorcycle history and how I usually enjoy my bike.

I got my car license when I was 18 and lived on a motorbike for a while after that. (Transferred from SEPIA to Monkey.)
After turning 40, I got my mid-sized license and increased my 250TR.
I enjoy tinkering and touring by myself.

How long have you been riding this bike?

I bought it new in 1995 and have been with it for 25 years. (about 12,300 km)

Purchase motive and purpose

SEPIA is being scrapped and I'm going to buy a motorized bike that I can ride for a long time anyway! and Monkey.
(Originally, my cousin rode it. When I was an elementary school student, I was allowed to ride it in the garden.)
I use it for touring and tinkering with machines.

Satisfactory/advantages

For the purpose

It's small and snappy!
Plenty of after-parts to customize it to your liking!
→ Parts prices are affordable.
By tinkering with it yourself, you can learn the structure of the bike, no labor charges!
→ It can be applied to other bikes! (I also have my own custom 250TR.)
→ I'm getting more and more attached to it! (I've known it longer than my wife!)

For running

I've done plenty of touring! It runs snappy in the passes! (The problem is the weight of the rider...)

For appearance

I made it 10 inches long and extended the 8cm long swingarm to keep the stock form as close to the original as possible.
KERKER muffler is installed.
→I've never seen anyone with an exhaust system other than in magazines and on the web!

Disadvantages/weaknesses

For the purpose

The rear carrier is too small for camp touring.
→We replaced it with a rear carrier for Gorilla that has a wider loading surface.
We recommend the "Daytona Tank Bag (Egli)" if you're looking for petit touring.

For running

If you keep it stock, you can't deny the lack of power.
→It is recommended to increase the bore if you ride for commuting, schooling, or touring.
The tank is small, and a knee grip is not possible.
→You feel uneasy when you ride the 250TR right after it.

For appearance

Because it's small, it's hard to be recognized by cars.
→But it's because it's small that it's a Monkey!

Summary (Recommended for people like this, etc.)

I bought a new bike, started by replacing the mirrors, muffler, carb, bore up, etc... I did it with my own hands. I came in with a finish to my liking. (The only things we outsourced were a fork oil change and a frame crack weld repair.)
It's allowed me to guess the cause of the malfunction and fix it myself, even if I'm just a businessman.

It's a fun ride! Teasing is fun!
That's the kind of bike I'm talking about.

If you like to tinker with machines, if you want to ride a bike to your own specifications, if you love your bike and want to make it your own People who want to. I would recommend this bike to anyone who wants to!
