Iker Lecuona plans to play a key role in helping Honda HRC win a fourth consecutive Suzuka 8 Hours after his return to Japan’s FIM Endurance World Championship round was announced.
The Spaniard partnered Tetsuta Nagashima and Takumi Takahashi to Suzuka glory in 2022, his first season riding for Team HRC in the FIM Superbike World Championship.
For his Suzuka return, Lecuona will link up with Takahashi and MotoGP star Johann Zarco, who won the 45th Coca-Cola Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Race in 2024 along with Teppei Nagoe.
“I am very happy to race again at the Suzuka 8 Hours with HRC,” the 25-year-old said. “I have good memories of Suzuka, I know Takumi’s riding really well and Johann is doing great this year. I want to prepare well to help HRC achieve a fourth win in a row.”
Lecuona tested for Honda HRC at Suzuka on 18-19 June. According to his team, Lecuona “demonstrated excellent performance, recording top times while strengthening communication with the team.”
Since his Suzuka success in 2022, Lecuona has raced in MotoGP and World Superbike. He was 12th in the 2024 standings and currently holds eighth place after six events.
