The BREMBO announced the new type caliper [GP4-MS] and [17mm/15mm version] of RCS CORSA CORTA radial master cylinder at EICMA 2018.

The new type Caliper [GP4-MS] is a specification of the public road of the monoblock caliper of the cut-out method which is a representative presence of BREMBO products. The technology of MotoGP becomes more familiar.

The RCS CORSA CORTA radial master cylinder is the most revolutionary master cylinder in BREMBO history for public road vehicles. This time, a new [17mm/15mm version] was added.

The controllability of brakes is improved dramatically for any genre of motorcycle and has become possible to enjoy the outstanding feel of fitting to the rider as the series spread, because it is possible to choose the master cylinder (15mm, 17mm, 19mm) of the optimum size according to the brake characteristic of the machine.

New Type Caliper [GP4-MS]

It was quite difficult to develop a brake caliper for MotoGP machines for public road driving. The BREMBO who decided to challenge this was the first public road specification of Monoblock Caliper which adopted the method of cut-out in EICMA (Milan International Motorcycle Show) 2018.

This GP4-MS caliper this time is the latest product developed by BREMBO leading the world in the development and manufacture of brake system, and it is a standard for high performance for future road motorcycle. The caliper adopting the mono block process developed for MotoGP finally appears in the general market as GP4-MS, in order to respond to the needs of all riders seeking state-of-the-art quality on circuit caliper as well as circuit-lover.

This GP4-MS caliper has 4pcs. pistons of 30mm diameter and become a finishing to renew the concept of calipers for riding public roads, such as monoblock design, surface nickel finishing, and design based on topology optimization by cut-out method, and by incorporating all the unique features of BREMBO's caliper adopted in MotoGP, and it raises the performance to the level of the caliper adopted in the world's highest race.

The style of the future BREMBO Racing series aiming at optimizing rigidity and weight reduction is also reflected in this GP4-MS caliper.

Cut-out Method from Ingot

The new product GP4-MS caliper (100mm pitch) is molded by cut-out from aluminum ingot by processing, like the BREMBO caliper adopted in MotoGP and Superbike World Championships.

It is possible to improve the overall performance of the brake system as a result of the use of materials that are superior in mechanical properties and highly resistant to high temperatures when compared to brake parts by casting method.

Monoblock Design

Unlike the previous GP4 series, this GP4-MS caliper combined the mono block design technology with machining cut-out. In other words, the material used was an aluminum ingot. This will be a new design choice for calipers for future public road vehicles.

Topology Optimization

The BREMBO has supported the victory of the top class of the road race world championship over the past 40 years. This machine processing achieved by fully utilizing the topology optimization software based on that achievement.

It is possible to optimize the shape of the caliper body with this software. It aims at improving rigidity and light weight and strengthening resistance to deformation at high temperature in all processing processes.

Nickel Finishing

The point that the surface is finished with nickel plating is the same as the caliper for Brembo racing motorcycle in this GP4-MS. The advantage of nickel plating is that it improves the accuracy of performance and operability, as well as the stylish appearance of the machine, and the strict machining tolerances are preserved.

The caliper of the race motorcycle specification does not require regular checks of the items, and can be enjoyed on public roads easily anytime, because it has a dual piston seal for the inner side of the piston and for preventing contamination. The GP4-MS caliper demonstrates the best performance among public road specification calipers provided by BREMBO.

In addition to this GP4-MS Monoblock Caliper, the GP4 series also has the GP4-RR Monoblock Caliper for racing motorcycle by the cut-out process, and GP4-RX 2-piece caliper of the same process.

The GP4-MS kit includes high-performance sintered brake pads that are optimal for both roadway specifications and race motorcycle, as well as parts and instructions for mounting. In addition, the kit includes an eye-catching thermochromic sticker. This is a tool used by MotoGP to check the operating temperature of the caliper after each session.

The GP4-MS caliper is also available for the BREMBO racing Z04 brake pads used in the Superbike Championships and Moto2.

RCS CORSA CORTA Radial Master Cylinder [17 mm/15mm Version]

BREMBO which lead the world in designing, developing and manufacturing brake systems and decided to add a new 17mm/15mm version to the current popularity of RCS CORSA CORTA radial master cylinder as the most innovative public road motorcycle radial master cylinder on the market today.

It is now possible to enjoy the outstanding feel that corresponds the rider with motorcycle of all genres with the expansion of the series of RCS CORSA CORTA. The master cylinder (15mm, 17mm, 19mm) of the optimum size can be selected according to the braking characteristics of the machine, so that the controllability of the brake can be remarkably improved for any type of motorcycle.

The relationship between the proper size of the master cylinder and the torque ratio of the hydraulic type fluid, and the piston diameter of the master cylinder and the diameter of the caliper must be the best in order to bring not only the braking force but also the controllability and sensitivity of the brake lever to the ideal in the motorcycle brake system.

It is possible to choose the RCS CORSA CORTA master cylinder which is perfect for compatibility with brake parts other than the caliper with the introduction of new products this time, depending on the piston size of the motorcycle brake caliper.

The controllability of the brake and the feel of the lever are impaired when the master cylinder is too big, and the amount of brake fluid extruded toward the piston of the caliper is too large. Conversely, if the size of the master cylinder is too small, a sufficient amount of brake fluid can not be pushed out, and the original braking power is not fully demonstrated.

The 17mm version is designed to correspond most of many models using 30mm diameter piston brake caliper, such as DUCATI's PANIGALE and MONSTER 1200, KAWASAKI's H2 and ZX10R, YAMAHA's R1 and R6, KTM SUPER DUKE, MV AGUSTA F4RR. It is possible to get the best performance and feeling, by combining with a caliper of 30mm diameter piston including BREMBO M50 caliper.

The 15mm version is designed to demonstrate the best performance on machines that use floating calipers with double discs as well as single discs. It is ideal for numerous MOTARD motorcycle and naked motorcycle, such as DUCATI's SCRAMBLER, KTM's DUKE, KAWASAKI's ER-6N and Z750, YAMAHA's MT-03, TRIUMPH's Bonneville T100. In addition, it can be used for any scooter with a total of 4 pots regardless of the number of the front calipers.

The 19mm version is the ideal radial master cylinder of a machine using a brake caliper with a piston diameter of 34mm or 32mm, such as HONDA's CBR1000, DUCATI's 1098/1198, BMW's S1000RR, TRIUMPH's SPEED TRIPLE, YAMAHA's FZ9, SUZUKI's GSX-R 1000, and KAWASAKI's Z1000.

The 17mm version and the 15mm version also have the same functionality as compared to the 19mm version, and it is possible to choose from 6 different settings as well as the 19mm version.

It is possible to change the point and the lever ratio where the brake is effective and can change the brake performance, according to the riding style and circumstances and the condition of the road surface in the BREMBO's RCS (Ratio Click System). This switch uses the adjuster located at the top of the master cylinder.

It turns the adjuster on the front of the lever 180-degrees with a screwdriver. It increases and decreases the distance between the fulcrum and the point of contact with the push rod of the master cylinder by 2mm (red indicates 18mm, black indicates 20mm) with the function of the camshaft mechanism. It is possible to control the distribution of braking force without changing the total amount of power by doing this.

This master cylinder, in which BREMBO's research effort for improvement was born, is equipped with 3-types of modes to further improve the performance of the brake system. It is possible to choose the preference setting from a total of 6-combinations, by switching the lever ratio of 18mm and 20mm to these 3-types of modes (R: race mode, S: sports mode, N: STD mode).
