TRIUMPH has announced the first variation of the mid-class Scrambler 400X, the SCRAMBLER 400 XC. At this stage, it is an India-only model, but the factory custom specification that evokes the image of a classic racer is attracting attention.
The specifications remain the same, but a meter visor and spoke wheels are installed.
The base model, the Scrambler 400X, is a model equipped with a 398cc water-cooled single-cylinder engine that has been on sale since 2023. Along with the on-road sports "Speed 400", this model has attracted attention as a rare class in the company's lineup that can be driven with a regular motorcycle license. The output of 40PS (29.4 kW) / 8,000 rpm is in line with the displacement, but it is also equipped with inverted forks, ride-by-wire, traction control, and other equipment that is comparable to higher-end models.
The new model announced this time is the first variation model of the Scrambler 400X. While the specifications and basic equipment are the same as before, the 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels have been changed to spoke type, and up fenders are also standard equipment, enhancing the off-road machine-like and classic atmosphere. A meter visor has also been added, giving it a sporty appearance like a racer. This part, which also functions as a fly screen, will also increase practicality during long touring.
The first variant of the series, the Scrambler 400XC, has been launched in India.
The specifications remain the same, but the wheels and exterior parts have an off-white feel.
The standard Scrambler 400X has been on sale in Japan since 2023, but there are currently no plans for the XC.
It comes in three colors: Racing Yellow, Granite, and Vanilla White. All of these colors are new and have significantly changed the image of the bike. The price in India is $3474.37, which is about $341.97 higher than the standard price of $3152.92.
At this stage, it has been announced that this model is "limited to the Indian market" and there are no plans to expand overseas. However, with few options for mid-class scramblers, the increase in the number of variations of the popular Scrambler 400X is of interest to Japanese fans. We look forward to further positive news.
