Yamaha had its 2025 models lined up in Europe by EICMA 2024 (Milan Show) on November 5th. The new MT-10 was not there, but a new color has recently appeared in North America. This means that we can assume that production in Europe will end.

MT-10 may be discontinued in Europe and Japan

It is still fresh in our memory that the YZF-R1, which uses Yamaha's proud crossplane engine = CP4, will end production of the public road specification in Europe at the end of 2024. The reason is that it does not comply with the Euro 5+ exhaust gas regulation, which requires the detection of catalyst deterioration, and in 2025 it will be sold only for circuit use.

And the MT-10, which uses the same CP4 engine, will not have a 2025 model in Europe, but a 2025 color has recently appeared in North America. In other words, it can be said that the MT-10 has been discontinued in Europe. If that happens, it will also end in Japan, where the standards are harmonized with Europe.

Since regulations are applied in Japan two years later than Europe, domestic production of the YZF-R1 and MT-10, which do not comply with Euro 5+, will be possible until the end of October 2026. There are probably only a few chances left to purchase a new car to experience the current CP4 engine, which was introduced in 2015 and has been active on circuits around the world, on public roads. It is best to make a decision early.

The CP4 engine is installed on the YZF-R1 and MT-10. It uses a special crankshaft that produces the same firing interval as a 90-degree V-4, and has been extremely successful in the EWC, SBK and All Japan Championships, including the Suzuka 8 Hours.
