Honda's new street fighter "CB1000 Hornet", which was exhibited at the Osaka Motorcycle Show in March and caused a big stir, has now officially debuted in Europe. Along with the Hornet's debut, they have also announced a hidden gem, the "CB1000 Hornet SP".
Reborn as a Street Fighter, a hugely popular character in Europe
The current CB1000, which appeared as the successor to the previous Hornet model, was a sporty naked-style motorcycle based on the Dream CB750Four. With this model change, it has been reborn as a complete street fighter-style motorcycle, and the "Hornet" has been revived in the name.

The design has been completely revamped from the previous CB1000 model, and has been significantly altered to its original street fighter style.

The SP is equipped with gold front forks and wheels, and the body is finished in matte black for an impressive look.

The standard Hornet is available in three colors. The main color is Grand Prix Red.

A sophisticated matte iridium gray metallic finish.

Pearl glare white that highlights the body design.

The SP is only available in Matte Ballistic Black Metallic and is equipped with Desert Gold Metallic wheels and gold front forks.
SP gets more power with RC valve
The engine installed in the Hornet is based on the 2017 CBR1000RR, with a bore and stroke of 76 x 55.1mm and a compression ratio of 11.7:1. The standard Hornet is tuned to a maximum output of 111.6 kW (151.7 PS)/11000 rpm and a maximum torque of 104 N-m/9000 rpm. Although the specifications are still sufficient, the Hornet SP is tuned to a maximum output of 115.6 kW (157.2 PS)/11000 rpm and a maximum torque of 107 N-m/9000 rpm, which is even higher. The difference in output is caused by the Revolutionary Controlled (RC) valve in the exhaust system, which opens fully at 5700rpm to improve exhaust efficiency.
Throttle-by-wire allows the setting of three default riding modes, Rain, Standard, and Sport, as well as two user custom modes. Engine power and engine brake can be set at three levels, and the Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) can be set at four levels, and in user custom mode each parameter can be set and saved to suit your preferences, driving conditions, etc.

The engine is based on the 2017 CBR1000RR and has been strengthened for low and mid-range speeds. The standard model produces a maximum output of 111.6kW (151.7PS), while the SP model produces a maximum output of 115.6kW (157.2PS).
SP is equipped with BREMBO + OHLINS for better suspension.
The frame is a newly designed twin-spar steel frame, which has increased torsional rigidity to improve handling agility. The suspension that is combined with this frame is a 41mm diameter Showa SFFBP fully adjustable inverted fork at the front, a Showa rear shock for the standard model, and an Ohlins TTX36 for the SP model, set via a Pro-Link.
The brakes are equipped with a double 310mm diameter floating mount disc rotor at the front, with a Nissin 4-pot caliper for the standard model and a Brembo Stylema 4-pot caliper for the SP model, both of which are radially mounted. The rear brakes for both the standard and SP models are a combination of a 240mm diameter disc rotor and a Nissin single-pot caliper.

Standard front end. The brake calipers are Nissin radial mount 4-pot calipers, and the front forks are finished in silver.

The SP's front brakes are equipped with Brembo Stylema 4-pot calipers, and the Desert Gold Metallic wheels are also beautiful.

The SP's rear shock is a set of Ohlins TTX36 shocks, which can be adjusted for preload with a hydraulic knob and are fully adjustable for compression and rebound damping.
Linking with smartphones also increases utility
The meter is a 5-inch full-color TFT, and the gap between the cover glass and the TFT screen is sealed with resin to reduce reflections and improve backlight transmittance. The meter design can be customized to display patterns of "bar," "circle," or "simple." In addition, the "Honda RoadSync" app allows connection to iOS/Android smartphones, enabling functions such as calls, messages, music, and navigation. This function is facilitated by a backlit 4-way toggle switch on the left handlebar, which allows easy operation of on-screen navigation, and also provides the option for riders to make phone calls and listen to music (via a Bluetooth helmet headset).

The 5-inch full-color TFT meter accurately conveys various information to the rider. The display mode can also be selected, and navigation can be displayed by linking with a smartphone.

It features a unique four-lamp headlight and a refined design with a mini cowl, which is a must-have for a street fighter.

When the optional seat cowl is installed, the tail area takes on a sportier design.

The LED taillights are simple yet intricately designed. The fender brackets are also designed with great attention to detail.
