It has been a year since the announcement was made that the production of the Final Edition would be discontinued for the Japanese market. The limited-edition model was a hit with the crowd. SR has such a long history that it can already be called culture, but it is also highly popular for custom applications. Cafe Racers and Choppers among the customization/bobbers, some of which have a wide variety of vehicles, even those used for racing. Also, the SR is a really interesting motorcycle, as even though it looks STD at first glance, it actually has the look of an early model, and the quality of each part has been improved.
Highly recommend Y'S GEAR cast wheels to everyone!
This cast wheel kit is an homage to the wheels used on the SR400SP (1979). It is commonly called "Daihachi-Cast" because it looks like the wheels of a DAIHACHI GURUMA (a human-powered cart in ancient times).
They were supposed to be adopted to enhance sportiness at that time, but cast wheels at that time were very heavy and unpopular with users who wanted traditional style, so they reverted to wire-spoke wheels after only a few years. It is a painful process to try to obtain it now as it has been in existence for only a few years in its long history of over 40 years. This may be similar to the change in front brakes from early (disc brakes) to mid-term (drum brakes). While keeping the appearance image of such rare Daihachi cast wheels, Y'S GEAR's cast wheel kit has been reissued with a drastic weight reduction!
Made by ENKEI for safety and reliability
It is manufactured by ENKEI, which boasts the world's top share in aluminum wheels for cars and motorcycles. Although the brand is so well-known as an aftermarket wheel for 4-wheelers, it actually makes many OEM wheels for 2-wheelers, adopted by Honda, Kawasaki, and Suzuki. Yamaha makes most of its own wheels, but Y'S GEAR has long had a lineup of ENKEI wheels for the YZF-R1, R6, and XJR1300, so perhaps the relationship is close. Although it's obscured in the photo, you can see the "Y'S GEAR" engraving on it!
With machined parts, it takes a lot of time and effort.
I was also surprised when I saw the real thing: the rear hub, front disc adapter, and front hub caps are made of machined aluminum. Early disc brake motorcycles also had disc mounting holes on both sides of the hub, which are also prepared in this cast wheel kit. The hub caps that cover the unused holes used to be plastic covers, but in this kit they are now machined from high-quality aluminum and bolted on properly (previously they were just fitted).
By the way, if you say there are disc mounting holes on both sides and holes for caliper mounts on the fork side, if everything goes right, a double-disc conversion would be possible!
With an 18-inch front and rear, tubeless tires are compatible.
As with the mid-term and later models, which have drum brakes, 18-inch tires are used, so there is almost no need to worry about tire selection. Also, tubeless tires, which are unique to cast wheels, can be accommodated, so high-grip tires can also be worn. The ability to go tubeless means not only tire selection but also resistance to puncture problems on the go.
In the event of a puncture, a tube tire will lose all its air at once, making it impossible to ride, but a tubeless tire (depending on the severity of the puncture) will lose air gradually, so in many cases it is possible to ride for a little while. Since puncture repair is at a level that even the average person can manage on the road, it is actually a strong ally of touring.
Two coloring options
The lineup includes gold and chic cutting black with a custom feel. Gold is a monochromatic coating and is a popular color in Webike. Cutting Black has a beautiful contrast between black and silver with cutting edges on the rim and spokes. Would you choose the period-style machined black or the custom gold?
Increased texture and attachment
The light OEM spoke wheels are great, but cast wheels are also hard to throw away.
Also, depending on the direction of customization, some may try hard to find SP OEM 19-inch wheels, while others will surely consider wide rim conversion without changing the spoke wheels. The Y'S GEAR cast wheels set introduced here are not inexpensive, but if you look at what's inside, you'll see that this is definitely a good deal! We hope you will add it to your custom fantasy.
