On February 6 (Thursday), HONDA held a media test ride event for the "ADV150" at Kazusa Akademia Park in Kisarazu City, Chiba. Just before the ADV150 forthcoming release date on February 14th (Friday) in Japan, I participated in the event with hastiness since the exhibition including the customized car will also be held. I would like to introduce here a quick news report.
Development concept "Beyond the Boundaries My Advanced Urban Explorer"
According to Mr. Kazuya Minowa, the director of development, the ADV150 based on the concept of "Beyond the Boundaries My Advanced Urban Explorer" was developed to be a 2-wheel scooter that can be enjoyed from commuting and attending school to hobby and extraordinary life by its unique and powerful appearance and excellent riding performance in addition to the comfort and convenience with mobility that are the attractions of scooters.
A particularly noteworthy part is its runnability. In other words, the ADV150 is designed to ride on off-roads.
The HONDA X-ADV equipped with a DCT 745cc water-cooled parallel 2-cylinder engine is supported by core fans in Japan. The ADV150 has been finished with a compact body, powerful and futuristic design based on the current PCX150 engine and frame, while using the X-ADV styling as a motif.
Equipped with the high rigidity double-cradle frame chassis unlike a scooter and the latest water-cooled 4-stroke OHC 149cc global engine that generate a maximum output of 15ps. In addition to having a reputation for good riding performance, the ADV150 is finished to be used in a wide range from dirt roads to touring on expressways by adopting exclusive suspensions. It can be said that it was a model that go beyond the limits while keeping the features of a scooter.
Its advanced equipments are also attractive. In addition to ABS, a front mask similar to the new AFRICA TWIN, a two-stage windscreen with height adjustment by hand, the "HONDA Smart Key System" that allows more convenient starting of the engine, and "Emergency stop signal" transmitted to the following car as soon as possible by rapid blinking of the hazard lamp due to sudden braking is adopted.
What surprised me was the current number of orders. According to Mr. Kouji Koga, sales manager, HONDA has set an annual sales target of 3,000 units, but has already received orders for 3,300 units before the launch.
