Yamaha XJR400R Owner's Review

We will introduce Keigo's passionate story about his riding experience with his beloved motorcycle, XJR400R, from Webike community "My Beloved Moto" campaign. He shared with us about his review for the YAMAHA XJR400R, including its advantages and disadvantages, which he knows well because he's the owner.

Keigo's Brief Self-introduction

・Motorcycle history and how I usually enjoy my motorcycle
I've been riding motorcycles for a year and a half.

The main way to enjoy motorcycles is in the mountains, but I also go for city riding and touring.Touring is down the road only except for the place where I cannot go without using the highway.

・How long I have been riding this motorcycle?
1 year and a half , about 28,000 kilometers.

・motive for purchase
I love motorcycles and wanted to ride one as soon as I was old enough to get my license and started riding when I turned 16.

Satisfaction/Advantages

・For purpose
Most of the time it runs in the mountains,it sounds great and no one else runs in the mountains on the XJR, certainly you don't have to care much with others.

・For riding
I don't feel a lack of power in city riding or touring. It has Brembo and Ohlins on the suspension, and I have no complaint in sports riding with strong braking power. As for Ohlins, I have no complaint although I cannot compare it with the other models as I have not yet been on this motocycle.

・For appearance
The XJR400R is air-cooled, so the engine fins are noticeable.
The model change made the tank and tail cowl bigger, but it is so cool even sometimes mistaken for a heavy model. So I think it's a good choice for those who only have a License for middle size but want to ride a heavy motorcycle.
And the silver bodywork looks stylish, and I really like the gold accents on the stock but Brembo, Ohlins, and external gold sprockets and gold chains.

Disadvantages

・For riding
It's running in the mountains, but I really think it's not good for fast riding because it's air-cooled so it doesn't have any power and heavy. But it doesn't mean it isn't fun to ride in the mountains, i meant that maybe you'll find something makes you cannot enjoy riding.
And the shape of the tank is flat, so it's hard to hang on, which makes it difficult to get an outside leg knee grip.

・For appearance
I have no complaints.

Summary (Recommended for riders)

In summary, it has a lack of power and weight, but I love it because it's really fun to ride and sounds great.
There are some complaints, but I've grown so attached to it that they disappear as I ride it and do some customization.
So the person I would recommend is someone who loves the XJR400R for now!
