Honda will release a road sports model "CBR650 R" equipped with a water cooled, 4 stroke, DOHC, in-line 4 cylinder, 648cc engine and equipped with a compact full cowl from Honda Dream on Friday, March 15.

The CBR650 R is based on the conventional model "CBR650 F" equipped with an in-line four-cylinder engine that can enjoy a gentle rotational feeling from low to high speed to a manageable body size. It focuses on "fun to manipulate" in more sporty driving, such as winding and high-speed driving, using the keyword of "exciting driving proficiency straight 4 Middle CBR R" as a keyword of development, parts of the body, underbody, power unit while aging, the styling is completely renewed. It changed the name from conventional CBR650 F to CBR650 R.

• Body / Suspension

・The pivot plate part of the frame has been changed to a box structure combining press molded parts, making light weight and high rigidity compatible at a high level.
・It moves upward the position where the pipe on the lower side of the seat rail is joined to the pivot plate to make it a silhouette with a light feeling, and shortens the rear end of the seat to contribute to concentration of trout.
・It sets the step position to the upper rear side with respect to the conventional model and lowers the position of the handle by fastening the separate handlebar to the lower side of the top bridge to make the riding position more enjoyable in winding.
・The aluminum wheel adopts a new design of 5 Y-shaped spokes. It was made lightweight by thinning each part while optimizing the rigidity.
・The suspension newly adopts the front fork as an inverted type and contributes to fine handling with light handling and adopts pillow balls at the fastening part between the rear suspension and the swing arm to further improve the cushion operability and the road surface compliance.
・Radial mount caliper is newly adopted for front brake. Also, as with the conventional model, ABS ※2 is equipped as standard.

※2 ABS is a system that assists the rider's braking operation. As with vehicles not equipped with ABS, it is necessary to decelerate sufficiently in front of a corner, etc., and it is not possible to respond to unreasonable driving. In ABS operation, the system operation is notified by kickback (rebound).

• Power Unit

・ It is changed to an output characteristic that provides a rotational rise feeling without a valley over peak rotation, improving ease of handling and improving the output in the high revolution range.
・In order to obtain higher rotation type characteristics, we changed the specification of the valve operating system and contributed to the improvement of output and smooth torque characteristics.
・The shape of the head was changed and the shape of the combustion chamber was optimized for the piston. It also uses an iridium plug and burns the air-fuel mixture more efficiently, contributing to the sense of rushing up and excellent throttle response.
・Twin ram air duct is dedicated to the newly design air cleaner. It improves the intake charging efficiency into the combustion chamber by increasing the air pressure inside the air cleaner box in the high speed range by the wind pressure (ram pressure) during traveling and realizes a sharper engine racing feeling in the high speed range .
・It adopts a new assist slipper clutch. The assist mechanism reduces the operation load of the clutch lever and improves the "fun to operate" by providing a slipper mechanism to reduce rear wheel hopping caused by sudden engine braking accompanying the shift down.
・Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) was newly adopted. It optimizes the engine torque by adjusting the fuel injection amount based on the value calculated from the wheel speed difference between the front and the rear, and relaxes the rear wheel slip by controlling the driving force of the rear tire. Switching ON / OFF is possible by switch operation of the left steering wheel.

• Styling

・It adopts LED dual headlight, etc. It is renewal to styling which emphasizes the image of the CBR series more. It is equipped with a full cowl of light weight and compact design that made it possible to combine rider comfort at high speed and lightness at the time of turning back the motorcycle body at winding.
・In coloring, two colors of 'Grand Prix Red' expressing the speed feel with the graphic of the racing image and 'Matt Ballistic Black Metallic' incorporating high saturation red as an accent in a calm impression based on black adoption.

• Other Equipment

・It adopts emergency stop signal which makes the hazard lamp blink fast at sudden braking.
