The two stars presented at the INTERMOT this year were CBR1000RR and GSX-R1000.
The reason for this is that they are both supersport models resemble latest racing machines. Actually they were exhibited in an important position at HONDA and SUZUKI booths.

Although the Supersport Craze is Over, Supersport Models are Always Loaded with Advanced Technology
There weren't so many visitors gathering around supersport models like there were ten years ago. One model per booth was exhibited for visitors to freely touch but the excitement that took place back in the old days was no longer there.
It might have been because riders are now aware that supersports are not easy for casual riding. Numbers show that the percentage of supersport models in the motorcycle market is no longer a large proportion.

This has probably influenced the CBR1000RR SP/SP2 to be fully modified maintaining basic aspects of the former model. It has been modified into its best shape by reducing cost required for production and equipment expenses.
We must admit that supersport models are essential as base models for racing and for image management of motorcycle distributing companies and is a category that cannot be dignified. In other words these two new models are the best.
New CBR100RR with Extraordinary Enhanced Power and 15kg Reduced Curb Weight
It's clear that Honda's prime task is to regain competition. Since it already features high output, reduced power weight ratio, offers reliable improvement, mass centralization and is equipped with upgraded electronic devices.
Maximum output has been raised from 11ps to 192ps, curb weight has been reduced from 15 kilograms to 195 kilograms and innovatively the first to be mounted with titanium fuel tank. Moment of inertia has been reduced to present 15% yaw and 10% roll and assumed to offer more active rides.
*Mounted with titanium fuel tank also mounted to CRF450R.
Equipped with Electronic Controling Technology and Bosch IMU
The engine is newly equipped with electronic throttle system with throttle body enlarged 2mm to Φ48mm and updated cam profile. Developments have presumably been made to correspond to high output and high rpm.
The machine is mounted with an electronic controling system called IMU (Inertia Measurement Unit) that offers up-to-date performances such as detecting motion and controlling traction, wheelie, ABS and Ohlins Semi Active Suspension. It is also equipped with automatic shifter that corresponds to the engine brake and shift down.
The IMU is a Bosch MM5.10 with 5 shaft sensors that detects upwards, sidewards, velosity of vertical directions, yaw rate and roll rate (Angular Velocity). Nevertheless, pitch rate can be calculated from other data so virtually there are six shafts all together. This sensor is mounted to various European models including KAWASAKI ZX-10R and is unusual for HONDA that usually insists on originality to make this choice but is a time-proven trusting one.

The frame has not only been reduced 300g but lateral bending rigidity has been equalled and rigidity modulus of tortion has been reduced 10% to optimize rigidity. Which means high dimensional steering has evolved further to a higher degree.
Engine Tuned SP2 Homologation Model
Nicky Hayden Rides the New CBR1000RR Fireblade
The SP2 is a homologation model with enlarged intake and exhaust valve, modified valve mounting angle, exclusively designed cylinder head and piston surroundings with reduced weight. It will offer high correspondence when kits are mounted. Kits are promising for competing.
The RC213V-S has the capability to be easily handled even by beginners compared to the CBR and is highly expected to be a new indicator for HONDA's supersport models. The new Fireblade has no doubt enhanced its high performance maintaining its degree of perfection.
The New GSX-R Series with Enhanced Speed and Advanced Specifications
On the other hand, GSX-R1000 offers high performance to ''Travel, Turn Corners and Stop" just like the former GSX-R models performed. Considering itself as top performer on the circuit, the GSX-R1000 is a totally new machine installed with technologies adopted from the GSX-RR Moto GP machine. You can see from the specifications that it is a superb machine; Maximum Output 202ps/Curb Weight 200kg.
The engine features short strokes (Bore ratio for CBR1000RR and ZX-10R are both Φ76mm.) and the width of the engine has been reduced to 6.6mm. By raising the cylinder angle 6 degrees to 26 degrees, overall length has been shortened to 22.2mm. The length between the pivot and front wheel axle has also been shortened 20mm to offer a long swing arm.
A 202 Horse Power Engine!
The engine is equipped with a Broad Power System that combines four new technologies adopted from the GSX-RR.

1. Variable valve timing called SUZUKI Racing VVT mechanically slides the cam sprocket on the intake side and reduces intake timing at high rpm.
2.The SUZUKI Finger Follower valve train system is transformed from previous model’s bucket-tappet system to a finger follower rocker arm type to improve valve control and allow higher RPM. The reduced moving mass also allows increased valve lift and higher peak RPM, increasing peak output.
3. The SUZUKI Top Injector S-TFI is newly equipped with electronic throttle (Diameter of the throttle has been enlarged 2mm and is #&934;46mm) and second injector that injects at high rpm located above the variable funnel.
4. The SUZUKI Exhaust Tuning Alpha SET-A is a butterfly valve installed on the connecting pipe that connects exhaust pipes which closes at low rpm.
Due to this the engine offers power and easy to handle performance at all rpm with an irregular high output of 202ps.
GSX-RR Technology has been Input to Normally Evolve the GSX-RR
As you can see from the small size of the main tube, the rigidity of the frame is flexible compared to former frames. The width of the upper side of the main tube is narrow on both right and left side which helps to lower the upper side of the tank 21mm. Due to this, the center of torsion can be lowered to idealize rigidity balance and will definitely offer active and comfortable steering.
The IMU that detects the condition of the machine by means of electronic controling features six shafts due to the feedback from GSX-RR.
The GSX-R1000R features high class racing characteristics such as SHOWA Balance Free (Front/Rear) Suspensions, launch control and auto shifter.
At the show SUZUKI explained that the aim of the new GSX-R1000 is to present manufacturing and GSX-RR technology of SUZUKI. However I felt that the real aim was to normally evolve the GSX-R and to adopt GSX-RR technology to aim for a higher degree.
