TRICK STAR, known for its Evangelion Racing and World Endurance Championship entries, is holding a "Super MAX SPEED Riding Event" on the high-speed track. In addition to regular riders, the track is also used by TRICK STAR custom machines to test its maximum speed, and the ZX-25R finally broke the 200km/h barrier.
The engine is still OEM, but the intake and exhaust systems have been fine-tuned to achieve the record.
TRICK STAR's ZX-25R customization project started at the end of 2020. It first made an appearance at the "MAX ZONE mini" held at Fuji Speedway on November 20. TRICK STAR participated in this event outside the chapter and aimed to exceed 200km/h on the 1.5km straight at Fuji.
When it comes to tuning the ZX-25R, TRICK STAR was determined to extend the capabilities of the Japanese specifications. The theme of the project was to prove that the Indonesian specification could deliver 50PS, while the Japanese specification could deliver even more. The first effort to do so was with computers. The ECU is controlled through a sub-controller, which removes restrictions on throttle opening and other factors.
Moreover, the theme of the project was to achieve full potential with parts that can actually be purchased and retrofitted, without working on the engine internals, and tuning was mainly done by changing intake and exhaust system parts such as the original ram air ducts and full exhaust system. The goal was to exceed 200 km/h in a configuration that anyone could reproduce.
Having shakedown the newly built motorcycle on the Fuji straight, it achieved 202km/h on the meter. The actual speed on the GPS logger is 195km/h, and the official record on the transponder is 193.202km/h.
The livery of the TRICK STAR was a one-off. Even the frame is painted in green, making it stand out. I really hope this one will be released too!
With the changes to the windscreen and air funnel, the actual speed of 205km/h was finally recorded.
Half a year has passed since the shakedown, and in May 2021, a super MAX SPEED riding event was held on the high-speed track of the Japan Automobile Research Institute. The ZX-25R was fitted with new parts and was ready for the maximum speed attack. In the meantime, the computer settings have been perfected through testing by "Young Machine" magazine.
First, the new screen is a new version of the OEM screen that had been attacking. The stock screen was sticking out so far from the rider's shoulders and helmet that it was causing a lot of loss, so the shape was changed to allow air to flow smoothly from the screen to the helmet. To further increase the power, the engine's air funnel has been changed to a specification that allows it to extend more in the high rpm range above 14,000 rpm. Together with the change in the Rapid Bike (sub-computer) settings, they were able to add almost 1PS.
The base tuning is the same as before: TRICK STAR Racing Full Exhaust System IKAZUCHI, TRICK STAR Power Intake Ducts, and Rapid Bike Racing Full Set TRICK STAR Specifications. With this combination, the rear wheel output was recorded at 45.65PS.
On the course, Takehiro Yamamoto, the favorite disciple of TRICK STAR representative Ryuji Tsuruta, attacked at full throttle and marked 205km/h. With a meter reading of 215km/h, I succeeded in improving my record by 13km/h from the MAX ZONE in November and by 10km/h from the actual speed measured by GPS.
This is Takehiro Yamamoto during his highest speed attack. The engine speed is adjusted in the final at around 17,000 rpm, which is just below the red zone.
The actual speed was measured with QSTARZ, a GPS data logger. Finally reached 205km/h! Even a 250 can go this fast.
The windscreen, which was developed to achieve over 200km/h actual speed in the maximum speed challenge, is 40mm higher than the OEM windscreen, making it more comfortable for touring. The price is 164.53 USD.
The specifications of the funnel were determined through a series of tests and actual riding. The engine has a smooth acceleration not only in the high rpm range but also in the low rpm range. The price is 329.06 USD.
This Racing Full Exhaust System IKAZUCHI Long is not allowed on public roads. The silencer length is 475mm. The price is 1,489.9 USD.
By changing to a power intake duct, approximately 1.5 PS can be increased. Especially in the higher rpm range, the power up to 14,000 rpm and above is smoother. The price is 171.84 USD.
A full set of pre-set subcomputers "Rapid Bike" includes a monitor at the handlebars. The gas pedal position can also be displayed in real time. The price is 2,065.76 USD.
