Kawasaki ZRX1100 Owner Review
Introducing the passionate story from Webi-man who rides the ZRX1100, from Webike Community's "My Beloved Moto" campaign.
He shares his reviews of the ZRX1100, including the advantage and the disadvantage, which he understands well because he is the owner.
Brief self-introduction
Motorcycle history
About 25 years.
How I enjoy my motorcycle on a regular basis
I play around with the motorcycle with a motto of maintenance and a little customization and "do it myself as much as possible". It's a great feeling when you can ride the motorcycle after it's finished and see the effect. For the past year or so, I have been enjoying working on replacing the bearings of the wheel and stem, diverting the clutch release, and painting the damaged part.
How long I have been riding this motorcycle?
About 5 years.
Motive for purchase
I've been away from motorcycles for almost 10 years after riding four Honda motorcycles when I was young, but my cousin was going to change from ZRX1100 to ZZR1400, so I got it when it was time to buy a new one.
Satisfaction
For applications
It is mainly used for touring on weekends and holidays, but I never feel the lack of power even when climbing up mountain passes, and it has a sense of stability even at high speeds, and it is generally easy to control and ride.
For riding
I only drive it on public roads, so I don't use it to the edge of the tires, but it is very entertaining when I try a little harder. When I first started driving it, I had an impression of understeer because the motorcycle I used to drive was light and turned well, but once you get used to the motorcycle, there is no difficulty in turning or understeer, and it is a very straightforward and easy to drive the motorcycle. Recently, I replaced the swingarm bearings and the effect was instantaneous, the rear movement was improved and cornering became more fun.
For appearance
Recently, I painted the undercarriage area black, and I'm happy with the result. The part of the cylinder head cover that had a mirror finish was painted in candy black, which I like especially, and I think I was able to make it look like my image.
Dissatisfaction
For applications
I have no complaints.
For riding
I was not happy with the OEM brakes. The OEM 6POT calipers of Tokico were not effective and difficult to maintain, and they were not good for me to get rid of, so I transplanted Suzuki Nissin 4POT brakes and made them satisfactory.
For appearance
I'm not unsatisfied with the shape, but I'm considering making changes to the coloring.
Summary
I like it very much. The motorcycle is over 20 years old, but it's still in great shape and I'm hoping to keep it around for a long time. There are many parts that I want to maintain, which is a good thing for me because it means I have a lot of fun, but the number of OEM parts that are discontinued is increasing, and I am worried about the cost of maintaining them in the future.
If you're going to buy the ZRX1100 from now on, I would recommend it to anyone who likes to play around with it themselves. Not only is it fun to ride, but I think it's a lot of fun to ride the motorcycle because it's been around for a good amount of years, so there are a lot of areas to work on, and if you do it, you'll feel the benefits, which will make riding the motorcycle a lot more fun.
Thank you, Webi-man, for a narrative that really shows your love for the ZRX1100!
