New Parallel 2-cylinder Engine and Advanced Electronic Equipment
The new F 900 R and F 900 XR will be powered by an improved version of the parallel two-cylinder engine used in the 2018 F 850 GS. This new engine has a 2mm larger cylinder bore (inside diameter), increasing the displacement from 853cc to 894 cc, and the pistons have been changed from cast to forged to increase strength. Maximum output has been increased from 70kW (95PS) to 77kW (105 PS).
Dynamic Traction Control (DCT), which contributes significantly to high driving dynamics and excellent riding safety, is standard equipment and supports the rider in changing driving conditions, on surfaces with little grip, and on surfaces with variable friction, greatly improving safety. BMW Motorrad ABS Pro and Dynamic Brake Control are also standard, keeping the motorcycle stable and reducing braking distances even under hard braking or in the rain.
The meter features a 6.5-inch TFT display that is highly visible and works in conjunction with a dedicated smartphone app. Other advanced features include Riding Mode Pro with four modes (Rain, Road, Dynamic, and Dynamic Pro), Gear Shift Assist Pro to support shifting, and Dynamic Engine Control to suppress sudden engine braking.
