That’s the view of reigning world champion Dan Linfoot, who raced against O’Halloran in the British Superbike Championship in the past.
O’Halloran, nicknamed the O'Show due to his spectacular style, is the retired Niccolò Canepa’s replacement at Yamalube YART Yamaha EWC Official Team for the upcoming EWC season. And while it will be a mission of discovery for the Australian rider, Linfoot expects him to thrive alongside new team-mates Marvin Fritz and Karel Hanika.
“I was team-mates with Jason for four years in BSB so we’re really good colleagues,” said Linfoot, who will help Yoshimura SERT Motul to defend its EWC title in 2025. “I’ve known him for 10 years now, had four years alongside him at the official Honda team in BSB so we were pretty close rivals for a long time. We get on well, he’s joining the YART team so it’s great to see another BSB rider coming into the EWC. He’s fast, his level is going to be fine but he’ll have some areas of endurance to get involved in and get going in.”
O’Halloran, 37, has spoken previously about the transition from the BSB to the EWC.
“I’ve got a lot of experience on the Yamaha and I’ve had a lot of success on Yamaha in BSB,” he said. “The biggest thing for me will be adapting to the EWC-spec bike, the Bridgestone tyres and the new circuits.
“I’ve ridden at Le Mans and I’ve ridden at Suzuka but I haven’t ridden at Spa and I haven’t ridden at Paul Ricard so I’ve got a lot of things to learn. Coming in with the team I’m coming in with, it’s the best-case scenario because I have all the tools there and all the people there to learn from to progress as quickly as possible.”
Yamalube YART Yamaha EWC Official Team is due to begin its pre-season testing this month. The 2025 EWC season begins with the 24 Heures Motos at Le Mans in France from 17-20 April. Ticket information is available HERE.
