The product was released three years after being exhibited at the Tokyo Motor Show!

The SW-1, which debuted from Suzuki in 1992, was so bizarre that it was rarely seen on the streets at the time, but if you happened to see one, you would recognize it as an SW-1!
It originally started as a response to "Tokyo Creative," a product development movement for the 21st century.
It was then exhibited as a concept car at the 1991 Tokyo Motor Show, and was unexpectedly well-received, perhaps due in part to the times' appeal to "slowness" as a backlash against the headlong rush of the 1970s and 1980s, so encouraging, development began on an actual product, but it took more than three years to release it as a product.

This ultra-retro covered style is part of the retro-modern trend made popular by British brands like Ariel and Velocette in the 1950s, and was such a major part of the culture that even sports bike manufacturer Triumph added a model with a cover from the seat down that covered the rear wheel.
The SW-1 attracted attention from around the world with its exquisite balance of innovativeness that further evolved the style of the time and a celebration of roundness and gentleness.
