What is KABUTO?

KABUTO is a helmet brand of OGK Kabuto, founded in 1948.
It is a long-established manufacturer that designs, develops, and tests safety performance in Japan.

KABUTO Features #1 High Cost Performance

The first feature of KABUTO helmets is their high cost performance.

For example, full-face helmets made of FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) have a manufacturer's suggested retail price of around $311.39 to $435.95 from other manufacturers,
but KABUTO's helmets are priced at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of around $249.11, making them a great bargain.

FRP is a material that can make helmets lighter while increasing their strength, but the process is complicated, involving setting glass fibers in a mold.

For that reason, they tend to be more expensive than helmets made of materials that are easier to process, such as ABS plastic.

KABUTO uses a proprietary FRP design called A.C.T., while keeping the price lower than other companies' FRP helmets.
Its lightweight structure provides excellent penetration resistance and shock absorption.

FRP is a lightweight and strong material, but it is expensive. KABUTO has many affordable models of helmets that use FRP.

KABUTO Feature #2: Standard glasses-compatible interior

image_technology11

The interior shape makes it easy to put on and take off glasses. A convenient feature for those who wear glasses or sunglasses.

Many people wear glasses or sunglasses while wearing a helmet.

The problem at such times is that the interior of the helmet (especially the interior of the cheek pads, called the cheek pads) can cause the glasses to lift up or slip off.

KABUTO uses a special slit to make it easier for the temples of glasses to pass through. This makes it easy to put on and take off glasses while wearing a helmet, and also prevents them from slipping off.

KABUTO Feature #3: Helmets with an inner visor can be selected.

image_technology05

Inner visors are popular because they can be used quickly while touring, such as when the setting sun is too bright or when exiting a tunnel.

The full-face helmet "KAMUI" series, the system helmet "RYUKI" series, the jet helmet "EXCEED" series, etc.

There is a lineup of helmets equipped with inner sunshades (sun visors that can be pulled out and used only when needed) for each shape.

The "KAMUI" series in particular has been popular for over 10 years since its release as an affordable full-face helmet with an inner visor.
Improvements have been made with each model change from "KAMUI" to "KAMUI2" to the current model "KAMUI3", and it continues to evolve, with the sunshade becoming larger and making it easier to cover the field of view.

KABUTO's feature #4: COOLMAX contact-cooling fabric is used for the interior fabric.

The cooling fabric COOLMAX is used mainly in areas that come into contact with the skin. It reduces discomfort when worn for long periods of time.

Helmets tend to trap stuffy air, and in the coming summer season, the interior will become sticky with sweat.

KABUTO uses a cooling fabric called COOLMAX in most of its current helmets.
COOLMAX is a high-performance fiber that quickly absorbs and dries sweat, keeping your skin comfortable even when you sweat.

Inner caps that use COOLMAX are also popular, but the fact that it comes as standard is a nice feature.

KABUTO's Feature 5: Focus to aerodynamic performance Wake stabilizer

Most current KABUTO helmets use the Wake Stabilizer, which improves aerodynamic performance without compromising the size or weight of the helmet.

Many high-speed motorcycles like bullet trains and sports cars have a streamlined, elongated shape.

This is designed to reduce air resistance when traveling at high speeds.

Elongating the helmet can reduce air resistance, but making it too large is physically impossible.

That's why KABUTO developed the Wake Stabilizer, which creates a compact helmet while maintaining aerodynamic performance.

The Wake Stabilizer is used in top-of-the-line models and in a wide range of jet helmets.

This reduces head shaking even when riding around town, making touring more comfortable.

KABUTO's Feature #6: It's also active in the world's top motorcycle races, MotoGP and WSBK!

Veteran MotoGP rider Aleix Espargaro is also under contract with KABUTO.

In recent years, many riders, including Aleix Espargaro in MotoGP and Tito Rabat and Remy Gardner in WSBK, have been using KABUTO helmets when racing.
Not only do races have top speeds of over 300km/h, but the engines also generate a lot of heat and are used in harsh environments.
In these harsh conditions, KABUTO has worked with racing riders to develop helmets that can shave off tenths of a second, and is incorporating that know-how into its commercial products.
