KM 99’s pursuit of home success in the FIM Endurance World Championship was undone after 15 minutes of the 8 Hours of Spa Motos.

Starting from seventh, Florian Marino excelled in the opening stages at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps by moving into fourth place.

But a fall at Les Combes after 15 minutes wrecked the Yamaha-powered team’s bid for a top-five finish in Belgium.

After spending 14 minutes in the pits while repairs were made, the team placed 16th overall and 10th in the Formula EWC category following a second crash mid-race, which was caused by an electronic issue.

“We cannot hide our disappointment given the pace we had, which suggested a much better result,” said KM 99 Team Manager Mario Kupper. “The goal of a top five, or even better, was within our reach with the various race incidents.”

Heading to next month’s 45th Coca-Cola Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Race, KM 99, which also features Randy de Puniet and Jérémy Guarnoni in its line-up, is ninth in the FIM Endurance World Championship for Teams.
