The CB1300SF/SB SP, a straight-4 naked model on the Royal Road, will be available in new colors. It is said that it will be clad in the traditional white and red with gold wheels, similar to the 30th-anniversary model of the previous year. It is expected to last until the next regulations are applied, but there is no possibility that this will be the last model!

Will the SP version that gives the symbol white and red be released in May?

The CB1300 SuperFour (SF), with its round, single-lens headlight, in-line four-cylinder engine, two rear shocks, and tail cowl, is a true representative of Japanese naked models.
Based on the Project BIG-1 concept, the first generation CB1000SF was born in the 1993 model year, and it has been a long seller entering its 31st year.

The younger brother CB400SF, introduced in 1992, was discontinued at the end of October 2022, but the older brother 1300 is still in the lineup. It is still fresh in our minds that a special 30th-anniversary edition was released in the 2023 model year.

And a new 2024 SF/SB is rumored to be on the way. It appears that a new color, Pearl Sunbeam White, will be introduced for the SP grade, which will feature Ohlins front and rear suspension and Brembo brake calipers. The announcement will be made around March 21, just before the Tokyo Motorcycle Show. The product is expected to go on sale in late May.

This new color scheme will feature the symbolic white and red color scheme that has been used since the first generation CB1000SF, as well as gold wheels. The color is expected to be similar to the CB1300SF/SB SP 30th Anniversary, which was on order from October 2022 to January 2023.

What is the difference between the 30th-anniversary special edition and the 2024 model?

The planned number of 30th-anniversary cars was 720, but the actual number of orders is said to have exceeded 1,000, a response that exceeded Honda's expectations. The new color is expected to have been set in consideration of its popularity.

However, the details differ from the 30th-anniversary motorcycle. Whereas the 30th-anniversary model had a glossy gold metallic crankcase cover, the 2024 model had a black one.

Also, the frame color is expected to change from metallic red to a solid magna red. The tank and tail stripes, which were white, gold, and red on the original, are said to be white, gold, and navy blue, which has existed in past models.

Of course, the 30th-anniversary sticker on the top of the tank will not be available in the new colors. Prices will remain unchanged from the current SP, with SF priced at (approx.) 13068 USD and SB at (approx.) 13807 USD.

Note that Pearl Hawke's Eye Blue on the SP and Digital Silver Metallic on the STD will continue in the 2024 model year.

The SP Pearl Hawke's Eye Blue (SF approx. 13071 USD, SB approx. 13814 USD) is available as a regular model. The motif is based on the 1982 CB750FC, which is likely to be continued in the 2024 model year.

STD-spec Digital Silver Metallic (SF approx. 10543 USD, SB approx. 11285 USD). The Spencer color is based on the CB750F racer driven by F. Spencer. This color is also expected to continue.

Will there be a final version in 2026? Or will it be a real final version?

Now that the CB400SF/SB has been discontinued, the departure of the CB1300 is of concern.

The 2021 model year CB1300 will adopt an electronically controlled throttle, etc., and will meet the current 2020 emission regulations (equivalent to Euro 5). The regulations require the installation of an OBD2 (on-board diagnostic device) to record failure logs, but a grace period was granted for systems to detect catalyst deterioration in mufflers, etc. (except for 50cc models).

The obligation to install OBD2-2, commonly known as OBD2-2, with its additional functions, is imminent. In Japan, it must be installed in new models after December 2024 and in continuously produced models after November 2026 (51-125cc models will be introduced one year later, respectively).

The CB1300 is rumored to be a "Hall of Fame" at the time these new regulations are introduced. Whether a final edition will be set at that time is unknown. However, there is no possibility that this 2024 model will be the final model.

In recent years, several straight-4 CBs have gone out of print, including the air-cooled straight-4 CB1100 and its sibling CB400SF/SB.
As for the CB1300, it would be better to move on as soon as possible rather than lamenting "I wanted one after the CB1300 was discontinued! It would be better to move on sooner rather than lamenting "I wish I had it!

The CB400SF/SB, which was discontinued without complying with the emission regulations that came into effect in November 2022, has no Final Edition available. Even before the end of production was announced, a battle was raging and many people were unable to buy one.
