Royal Enfield has announced the introduction in Japan of the new Shotogun 650 cruiser, which made its world premiere last November. This nimble street bobber is equipped with a 655cc air-cooled OHC parallel twin-cylinder engine, which is used in the Super Meteor 650 and other models, as well as 18-inch front wheels and a single seat.
It will be available in four colors, and while the price has not yet been announced, it has been announced that it will go on sale in August 2024.
Removable tandem seat allows you to change your style according to your mood!
The Shotgun 650 is a new bobber-style model that reinterprets the SG650, which was introduced as a concept model in 2021, as a production model. The concept represented a futuristic street bobber based on an air-cooled 650cc twin, but the inverted fork and low-riding frame became a reality with the Cruiser Super Meteor 650, which was introduced in the spring of 2023. The Shotgun 650, which will be introduced in the spring of 2023, will have cut-off fenders, a single seat, and a carbureted exhaust, bringing its styling even closer to the concept.
However, the Shotgun 650 is not just a bobber version of the Super Meteor 650; the overall design has been refined. The fuel tank was downsized to 13.8 liters, and the seat height was raised 30 mm to 795 mm. A mid-control footpeg position and smaller-diameter wheels (18-inch front, 17-inch rear) provide agility and mobility in a compact package. The front fork is a SHOWA inverted SFF-BP (Separate Function Front Fork - Big Piston) and the rear suspension is a twin shock with adjustable preload, combining classic looks with state-of-the-art performance. The engine specs are the same as the Super Meteor 650, with a 6-speed gearbox that delivers 47 PS at 7,250 rpm. In consideration of sport riding, the weight has also been reduced, to 235 kg, which is approximately 10 kg less than the Super Meteor.

Shotgun 650 [Royal Enfield 2024] New bobber presented in 2023.
It will share the same air-cooled, parallel twin-cylinder engine with existing models such as the Continental GT650 and Super Meteor 650.

The model was the SG650 concept exhibited at EICMA in 2021, a street bobber inspired by a cyberpunk-inspired world that became a reality.

Various equipment has been changed from the Super Meteor 650, but the distinctive headlight nacelle is a refinement of the classic Royal Enfield style.
Differentiated from Super Meteor even with unique equipment! The price that we are wondering is less than 1 million yen.
In terms of equipment, a modular design is adopted that allows the tandem seat to be easily attached and detached. The single seat remains in place, and the tandem seat can be changed to a carrier according to the day's purpose and style, making it easy to switch from daily use to touring use. In addition, the "Tripper Navigation" navigation system, which uses arrows to indicate the direction of travel, is also included, and the enhanced "Royal Enfield Wingman" smartphone linkage allows users to check information such as the vehicle's current location, fuel and oil levels on their smartphone for the first time. The new system is the first of its kind to be equipped with this function.
In addition to these features, 31 genuine accessories are said to be available, including engine guards, underguards, fog lamps, and bar-end mirrors, so it is not difficult to create your customization.
Four color variations are planned: "Stencil White," "Plasma Blue," "Green Drill," and "Sheet Metal Gray. The domestic introduction has been announced as August 2024 (there was also information that it was scheduled for June, but this has been corrected), and the price has not yet been announced. For reference, in India, where bookings have begun, the Super Meteor is priced at 363,900 rupees (approximately 4367 USD and up), while the Shotgun 650 is set at 359,000 rupees (approximately 4314 USD and up), which seems to be a slightly lower price. Considering that the current domestic version of the Super Meteor is priced at 6507 USD, the price may be lower than this when it goes on sale. The main specifications have not yet been announced, and we will keep an eye on future information.

The pillion seat above the rear fender can be replaced with a single touch, and 31 different accessories are available to customize the car as desired.

The Cruiser Super Meteor 650 from 2023 has a classic & upright style, but the Shotgun 650 has a completely different character. Stay tuned for further updates on pricing, etc.
