The Dax 125, popular for its adorable looks and stable ride, is set to add another new color to its lineup. The 2025 model to be introduced later this year will be a chic black color. Here are the details.
Red discontinued since the first generation, to be replaced by black?
The Dax 125 debuted in September 2022, following the style of the Dax Honda created in 1969, but with modern technology. the revival of the Dax after almost 20 years has created a great deal of buzz, and it is the 6th most popular in its class in the 2023 sales ranking (according to "Motorcyclist Newspaper").
It will also be launched in Europe in March 2022, bringing back the Dax name for the first time in almost 40 years.
In addition, blue was added in December 2023 for the 2024 model year, which is still fresh in our minds. This is likely to be followed by the introduction of a new color, Pearl Shining Black, around July. Since the 2024 model already exists and will be released in the second half of the year, it is considered to be the 2025 model. The current model is available in three body colors: Pearl Glittering Blue, Pearl Cadet Gray, and Pearl Nebula Red. Gray and red have been the body colors since the debut, with a new blue color added for the 2024 model year.
In the new model, red will be discontinued and blue and gray will continue. There will be three colors to choose from, along with the new Pearl Shining Black.

The photo is a computer graphic created by the editorial department. The new color is black, giving the bike a different, more dignified appearance. The front fender and outer forks may be the same color as the other colors.

Pearl Shining Black is a color name that also exists on the current Monkey 125, but although it is called black, it is closer to silver as shown in the photo. In the case of the Dax, the color seems to be almost jet black with a glossy finish.

Pearl Glitter Ring Blue was added in December 2023. This bright color is also used on the current Monkey 125.

The blue color is inspired by the 1969 ST50 Export, a scrambler version of the first Dax Honda.

The existing Pearl Nebula Red was a color that paid homage to the early models of the original Dax.

The chic pearl cadet gray color continues on the new model. This color is a recent trend and was also used on the previous Super Cub C125.
Will the long-awaited shift display be available as an OEM option?
The official announcement will be made around May, and the release date will be around July. The price is yet to be determined (the current model is priced at approx. 2928 USD).
There are no mechanical changes. The air-cooled SOHC single-cylinder engine with a displacement of 124 cc produces a maximum output of 9.4 ps and a maximum torque of 1.1 kgm. The basic design is expected to be the same as the previous model, including a steel plate pressed backbone frame that follows the styling of the first generation Dax, a 4-speed automatic centrifugal clutch that makes it easy to drive even with a limited AT license, and a seat that is easy to tandem with.
Meanwhile, new factory options appear to include a shift indicator, new heated grips, a USB power supply, and saddlebags. The shift indicator will be especially useful since Dax has a centrifugal clutch that becomes rotary when stopped. Since the announcement is in May, a prototype may be displayed at the spring motorcycle show.

The unique monocoque frame is designed to be moderately rigid, yet the bike is extremely stable. It is powerful in the mid-speed range and can be ridden in both a leisurely and sporty manner. Another key point is that although it is a 125, it is highly suitable for tandem use.

The Dax 125's meter is a common item with the Monkey and does not have a shift position indicator. While external indicators exist that can display shifts, it would be nice to see them released as OEM.
