NEW MOTORCYCLE: Middle Twin Full-Cowl Sport “GSX-8R” will be Released on 1/25

Suzuki has announced the domestic sales of the new mid-sport GSX-8R, which will be released overseas in the fall of 2023. This cowled model of the middle-naked GSX-8S currently on sale is powered by a 775cc cross-balanced parallel twin-cylinder engine.
The addition of separate handlebars and SHOWA's SFF-BP forks has refined its sporty riding performance.

It is available in three color variations and will be released on Thursday, January 25, 2024, for (approx.) 7716 USD.

Enjoy a sportier 775cc engine with Suzuki's soul.

The large naked GSX-8S and the large adventure V-Strom 800DE, both introduced in 2022, are powered by a newly developed 775cc, 270° crank, parallel twin-cylinder engine.
The patented dual-axis primary balancer Suzuki cross balancer mechanism suppresses vibration and contributes to downsizing and concentrated mass balance. The engine attracted attention for its multiple power output characteristics that can be enjoyed both on the street and off-road.

The new GSX-8R is based on the GSX-8S and is of course equipped with the same engine. It delivers a maximum output of 59 kW (80 PS) at 8,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 76 Nm (7.7 kgfm) at 6,800 rpm, the same figures as the two preceding models.
The styling of the new model is significantly differentiated from its predecessors, with a full cowl, the only one currently available in Suzuki's middle class.
In addition to a separate handlebar, the GSX-8S features a vertically mounted two-light LED headlight and short silencers, which are different from those on the previous GSX-R series, giving the new series a distinctive style.

The GSX-8R [Suzuki] is a new middle-sport model that made its world premiere in November 2023. It is the sibling model of the GSX-8S, but its equipment and styling have undergone a major transformation.

The 755cc parallel twin-cylinder engine with a dual-axis primary cross balancer delivers 80 PS at 8,500 rpm, the same as the GSX-8S and VSTROM 800DE.

The front mask features two vertically mounted LEDs that follow the GSX-8S. The front mask is different from that of the GSX-R series.

The front suspension also evolved from 8R! SFF-BP strengthens suspension.

The Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.), with its full range of electronic controls, offers three different ride mode selections, traction control, bi-directional quick shifter, electronic throttle, easy start system, and low RPM assist to match a wide variety of situations. The GSX-8 is equipped with user-friendly functionality to match a wide variety of situations. These features are shared with the GSX-8R.

The suspension is the key point of interest in the GSX-8R. Optimized settings have been made for the changed position, winding, and circuit scenes. The front suspension, which was equipped with a KYB inverted fork on the GSX-8S, is now equipped with a new SHOWA SFF-BP fork. This fork, which has separate left and right functions and is characterized by its lightweight, has a proven track record and is used in many of the latest supersports models. The damper piston diameter has also been enlarged to provide high damping force and controllability. The rear shock is an adjustable link-type mono-shock.

Electronic control assistance by S.I.R.S. is common to the GSX-8S. It is a fully equipped machine that can respond to a variety of situations.

The meter is equipped with a 5-inch old color TFT LCD and a separate handlebar. It is not equipped with a smartphone linkage (my SPIN).

The center of attention is the new SHOW SFF-BP inverted fork. This lightweight, high-performance suspension, which is increasingly used in the latest SS, supports sporty riding.

The price difference from 8S is 77,000 yen! No yellow was introduced for overseas specs.

The GSX-8R is available in three graphic colors. Triton Blue Metallic, Mat Sword Silver Metallic, and Mat Black Metallic No. 2, with the yellow color announced overseas not yet been introduced. It will be released on January 25, 2024 (Thursday), the same day as the GSX-S1000GX, a large crossover tourer announced at the same time.
Prices will be (approx.) 7718 USD for all colors, up (approx.) 519 USD from the GSX-8S's (approx.) 7199 USD. The planned annual sales volume is 720 units.

Suzuki's middle full cowl, which was not in the current lineup, is back here. We have high expectations for its looks and features, which are different from those of the GSX-8S.
