Just like the FIM Endurance World Cup, the FIM Endurance World Championship was packed full of action in 2023 and went down to the final race of the season.
Yamalube YART Yamaha EWC Official Team came through a fraught period in the Bol d’Or decider to take the title amid high drama after its main rivals either dropped out (F.C.C. TSR Honda France) or dropped out of contention (BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team).
FIM ENDURANCE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP FOR TEAMS
Champion: Yamalube YART Yamaha EWC Official Team
Having failed to register a race win during its triumphant 2022 title season, F.C.C. TSR Honda France hit the ground running with victory in the opening round of 2023, the 24 Heures Motos at Le Mans.
Yamalube YART Yamaha EWC Official Team then ended its 14-year wait for a victory in an EWC race lasting 24 hours when it won at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, before Team HRC with Japan Post finished first in the 44th Coca-Cola Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Race.
That result meant six teams started the Bol d’Or decider in title contention. Yoshimura SERT Motul won the race, but Yamalube YART Yamaha EWC Official Team did enough to take the title.
Suzuki-powered Yoshimura SERT Motul finished second in the standings, 20 points behind YART with BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team one point down on SERT.
FIM ENDURANCE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP FOR MANUFACTURERS
Champion: Honda
With two wins and four podium finishes, Honda completed the 2023 EWC season on top in the FIM Endurance World Championship for Manufacturers.
Honda’s success and consistency ensured it finished comfortably clear of second-placed Yamaha with BMW, Suzuki, Kawasaki and Ducati next up.
