The new CBR600RR, which was previously unveiled at the Suzuka 8 Hours, is expected to be released in Japan in February next year. The specifications were officially announced in Europe in November, but we would like to provide new information on the expected price and timing of its launch in Japan.
Black is (approx.) 10815 USD, or 226 USD less than the conventional model.
The CBR600RR, which was in danger of being discontinued due to its lack of compliance with 2020 emission regulations, will continue to be produced in Japan, as was confirmed in a prior exhibition at the Suzuka 8 Hours. The 2024 model will be available in two colors, and the price of the new black model will be reduced from the previous model.
The previous CBR600RR, introduced in 2020, was priced at (approx.) 11041 USD, but the price of the new model would be unchanged at (approx.) 11041 USD for Grand Prix Red and reduced by 226 USD to (approx.) 10814 USD for Matte Ballistic Black Metallic. The Grand Prix Red has a new design.
In addition, a quick shifter, which was previously an option at 185 USD, will be standard equipment, which means that the Grand Prix Red model will have a price reduction, while the Black model will have a price reduction of approximately 412 USD. The specifications are expected to be the same as those of the European version, and it is expected to deliver the same 121PS as the previous model.
The expected launch date is February 15, 2024. Changes from the previous model include compliance with the 2020 emission regulations, improved stability by changing the rear suspension preload, 1 kg weight reduction by eliminating exhaust devices, and changes to the shape of the side stand. We will bring you further information as soon as it becomes available.

Let us now compare the new CBR600RR with the new ZX-6R. The new ZX-6R, which Kawasaki remodeled for the 2024 model year, has both power and rpm down from the previous ZX-6R's 126PS/13500rpm to 122PS/13000rpm. Therefore, the power difference with the new CBR600RR approaches 1 PS.
In addition, while the new ZX-6R weighs 199 kg, an additional 2 kg from the previous model, the new CBR600RR is thought to be lighter at 193 kg compared to 194 kg for the 2020 domestic specifications, so the power-to-weight ratio is 1.63 kg/PS for the new 6R versus 1.59 kg/PS for the new CBR. Therefore, the power-to-weight ratio of the new CBR is 1.63kg/PS compared to 1.59kg/PS of the new 6R.
In terms of equipment, the CBR600RR outperforms the ZX-6R in electronic control, with traction control and ABS using attitude angle sensors. In contrast, the new ZX-6R features a smartphone app-compatible TFT meter, which the CBR does not The ZX-6R's engine is a 636cc engine. The engine also has a generous 636cc displacement, giving it an advantage in terms of torque.
The price of the new ZX-6R has increased by 1059 USD from (approx.) 9681 USD to 10741 USD for the most recent 2023 ZX-6R KRT. The new CBR600RR is expected to be reduced to (approx.) 10817 USD in black, approaching a 75 USD difference. It will be a difficult choice.
