Markus Reiterberger completed his title-winning FIM Asia Road Racing Championship campaign in style by claiming victory in the season finale in Thailand on Sunday.
The German rider, a triple podium finisher for BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team in the 2023 FIM Endurance World Championship, placed runner-up in the first of two races at the Chang International Circuit in Thailand on Saturday before taking victory in the second counter the following day.
Reiterberger’s win in Race 2 ensured the Teams’ title for ONEXOX BMW TKKR Team.
In a Facebook post, the 29-year-old wrote: I fought for the lead after a good start [in Race 1]. In the final stages, I got trouble with the front and checked my lead. In the last corner an opponent pushed me off the track. I came first over the line but got a track limit penalty and was relegated to P2.
After [Saturday’s] disappointment, we delivered the answer on the track [on Sunday]. I enjoyed a great fight with Zaqhwan [Bin Zaidi] and pulled clear after a successful manoeuvre. It's fantastic to finish this successful season with a win.
