ALL NEW YAMAHA, which Yamaha had announced on social networking sites in Thailand, is now available for pre-order ahead of its official announcement on November 29.
Details of the PG-1 are currently unknown, but from the looks of it, it is probably a competitor to Honda's CT125 Hunter Cub.

Yamaha introduced the PG-1, a horizontal-engine leisure motorcycle!

The model in the preview that Yamaha has been rolling out on social networking sites in Thailand since November 20 has been unveiled as the PG-1. The photo suggests a leisure motorcycle concept similar to Honda's CT125 Hunter Cub.
Details of the model are unknown, but it has been announced that it will be officially unveiled on November 29.

The engine uses an air-cooled horizontal engine, which from its shape can be assumed to be the same OHC 2-valve unit as the FINN, which Yamaha sells in Thailand. The Finn has a long stroke specification of 114cc with a bore of 50mm x stroke of 57.9mm and a maximum output of 7.4kW (10PS), which is higher than the CT125 Hunter Cub. The transmission is 4-speed, and like the PG-1, it is not equipped with a clutch lever.

The local price for the Finn will be 48,700 baht (about 200,000 yen), but what will be the price difference for the PG-1? We will report more details as soon as we receive further information, including a comparison with Honda's CT125 (88,900 baht = approx. 2496 USD), which is also produced and sold in Thailand.

Yamaha's original was a 1962 MJ2T Omaha Trail.

Honda's CT125 Hunter Cub has its roots in the 1961 CA100T Trail 50, which was based on the Super Cub C100 introduced in 1958 and designed for dirt riding. The genesis of the Cub began in 1959 when Honda entered the U.S. market and asked hunting supply stores to carry the Cub in order to develop a sales channel.

Fishing and hunting enthusiasts began using the Cub in the back of their pickup trucks for transportation in the field, and this developed into the CA100T, which was more suited for dirt riding. Yamaha also took notice of this and launched the MJ2T Omaha Trail 55 in the US in 1962, which would lead to the PG-1.

Yamaha's famous underbone models, the Yamaha Mate U5 and U5D were introduced in 1965, but the Mate has its roots in the 1960 MF-1, which probably preceded the Mate and developed into the launch of the Omaha Trail 55. Yamaha has been closely followed by Honda since the 1960s.
