BMW unveiled the new R1300GS, a fully remodeled model, in Germany on September 28.
As the motorcycle's name suggests, the engine, body, style, and equipment have been completely updated, with the displacement increased from the 1254cc of the previous R1250GS to 1300cc.
New frame with cast aluminum seat rail
BMW's GS is an adventure tourer with over 40 years of history and the top-end model is traditionally powered by a horizontally opposed boxer-twin engine. The engine was converted to air-to-water cooling in 2013 and displacement was increased to 1254cc from the previous R1200GS in 2019, as well as a variable valve mechanism.
The new R1300GS follows suit, expanding to 1300cc as a 106.5mm (former 102.5) x 73mm (former 76) mm bore x stroke. Maximum output was increased by 9 PS to 145 PS. The engine is more compact than before, thanks to a gearbox located in the lower part of the engine and an improved cam drive system.
The main frame of the vehicle is now a steel plate type, optimizing the installation of the fuel tank and air box and improving rigidity. The seat rail is now made of cast aluminum, contributing to a 12kg weight reduction. The front and rear EVO-type tele-lever and para-lever suspension have 20 mm more travel.
In terms of equipment, the electronically controlled suspension features an adaptive ride-height adjustment function, enabling automatic adjustment of ride height according to conditions.
Also newly adopted are active safety features such as adaptive cruise control, collision warning, and lane change warning, as well as unique X-shaped matrix LED headlamps.

R1300GS [BMW] The first full model change in five years has renewed the hardware and is also loaded with a higher level of electronic control equipment. The screen, which differs in height between the left and right side of the vehicle, has evolved into an electrically adjustable type.

The new R1300GS has a sharper look front and rear with a new flat headlight and cast aluminum seat rail, making it an even more intrepid off-road model.

The conventional pipe frame has been replaced by a plate-shaped main frame, and the placement of the air cleaner box and fuel tank has been optimized. The tank capacity is 19 liters, down 1 liter from the previous model.

The head cover has been redesigned. The engine has a larger displacement and a shorter stroke than before, resulting in increased power output. At the same time, the engine is more compact.

The new headlights have high/low beams, daytime running lights, and sidelight functions. The optional Pro will also incorporate cornering lights.

The indicator was placed on the hand guard.

The meters feature a 6.5-inch TFT color display. Keyless and heated grips are also standard equipment.
