Sylvain Guntoli marked the completion of his career as a Suzuki-powered rider in the FIM Endurance World Championship by forming part of the Yoshimura SERT Motul team that won the EWC season-deciding Bol d’Or last weekend.

Although the Frenchman was forced to stop riding due to illness early on Sunday morning, his contribution, particularly during qualifying, was vital as the French team scored an incredible 84 points out of the 85 available.

Of course, I'm disappointed that I wasn't able to help my team-mates all the way to the end, because I know that 24-hour races are particularly demanding, said Guintoli, 41. I gave everything I could during the first six stints but physically, it was too complicated for me to go any further. Gregg [Black] and Étienne [Masson] did a great job to take the bike to victory. It's a good way to end the season and for me to turn the page on this great adventure with the team.

Yoshimura SERT Motul finished second in the final FIM Endurance World Championship for Teams.
