BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team made it a clean sweep of podiums in the FIM Endurance World Championship’s three 24-hour races with third place in the Bol d’Or last weekend – but Werner Daemen, who heads up the Belgium-based squad, was left wanting more.

Riders Jérémy Guarnoni, Illya Mykhalchyk and Markus Reiterberger hit back from two lengthy unscheduled pit stops to complete the podium behind the winning Yoshimura SERT Motul team and Honda Viltaïs Racing having started from pole position.

Afterwards ex-rider Daemen said: I have mixed feelings. To be honest, if you had told me about that result before the season, I would have been quite happy. But now we feel that the title was also possible and then you want more. But this is a particular race and we have been strong.

8In qualifying, we showed our potential by taking pole position. The riders again did a tremendous job. In the race, we had some bad luck and some technical issues that cost us several laps. If we could have won maybe the world title would also been possible. That means that we have some work to do and the title will be our goal for next year.*

Daemen continued: Thanks to BMW, to the riders and the entire team for their hard and great work this season. There are so many people who have contributed to the fact that we finished all races and been on the podium in all 24-hour races. Next year we will attack again.

BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team’s third place in the Bol d’Or followed on from identical results in the 24 Heures Motos at Le Mans in April and the 24H SPA EWC Motos in June. It placed third in the final FIM Endurance World Championship for Teams, 21 points behind EWC title-winning Yamalube YART Yamaha EWC Official Team.
