To be honest, the Honda "CB1300 Super Four" is this kind of bike!

オーナーレビュー|ホンダCB1300SF

When obtaining a standard motorcycle license, many people probably rode the CB400 Super Four in riding school, and this CB1300 Super Four is its big brother or parent model. It was introduced in 1992, roughly 30 years ago. When it first appeared, it was a 998cc CB1000 Super Four  (first generation), but in 1998, it was converted to a 1300cc model and its name was changed to CB1300 Super Four (second generation).

The current model is the third generation CB1300 Super Four, which underwent a significant weight reduction in 2003 and has since been matured with a six-speed transmission (2014) and electronic throttle and cruise control equipment (2021).

The CB1300 SuperFour features a liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, DOHC, 4-valve, in-line 4-cylinder engine. It is a machine that allows the rousing power feel of Honda's signature "straight-4" engine to be experienced to the fullest.

As for the chassis, it is characterized by a fairly orthodox construction compared to modern sports naked. It has a double cradle frame instead of the diamond frame that is the trend, twin rear shocks instead of a mono-shock, and upright front forks.

Although the prehistoric chassis configuration may seem dated nowadays, thanks to this, the weight of a big bike can be felt, which is distinctly different from modern sport bikes that are lighter more compact, and easier to handle.

CB1300 Super Four Owner's Voice

Here are some of the most impressive voices among the many reviews.

Motive for purchase, intended use, and comparative models I want to use it for different purposes.
I often go on long-distance touring trips to Hokkaido and other places, so I plan to use it for such trips.
Advantages/Satisfactory points I wondered if it would be okay at first because of the weight of the motorcycle. But when I started riding, my first impression was that it was indeed a CB, with its stability. Since it is the SP model of the Sioux Four, it has luxurious equipment such as Ohlins suspension in the front and rear from the start and Brembo upright forks, so I was not worried at all when I was running.
I am especially satisfied with the suspension, and the sinking and bouncing are near perfect. It is not a cheap purchase, but the satisfaction and sense of ownership I get from this motorcycle make me glad that I bought it.
Disadvantages/Dissatisfactory points When riding in 2nd to 3rd gear in the 2-3000 rpm range, sometimes the power drops off or the power drops off sharply.

I don't know much about this, so I don't know if this is an individual difference or a characteristic of the CB, but it is something that bothers me a little.

Also, since it is a heavy bike, it may be difficult to handle if you are inexperienced, such as if you just got a license for a large bike.

Advice for prospective buyers As with large motorcycles, maintenance costs are relatively high compared to small to medium-sized motorcycles.

Repairs may be expensive if parts are damaged in a fall or other accident. They are also heavy, making them difficult to push, pull, and maneuver.
However, to the extent that this is not a problem, I think this bike has an appeal that satisfies the sense of ownership. Although it is not recommended for everyone, it can be recommended for those who would like to ride a real large-sized bike at least once.

Also, although a USB power supply is equipped under the seat as standard equipment, it is a Type C and is located in an exquisitely difficult-to-use position under the seat, so there is a high rate of not being able to use it (personally, I can't use it).

Motive for purchase, intended use, and comparative models Birthday present from my wife.
Mainly used for weekend touring.
The comparison model is Z900RS.
Advantages/Satisfactory points My favorite naked style.
Highly satisfying to own due to its high-quality construction.
Not as heavy as expected and is easy to handle and ride.
Disadvantages/Dissatisfactory points Hot below the knees. It's tough in the summer.
It sounds like a 4-cylinder, but louder.
Be careful when starting early in the morning or late at night.
Advice for prospective buyers I was hesitant to buy it because of its weight (over 260 kg), but when I tried to handle it, I felt it was about the same as my previous CB750 (RC42), so I don't think I need to worry about its weight. Fuel consumption was 17~18km/L mainly on downhill roads. It is in line with the displacement. I have not ridden so many miles, but I think that the matured Honda engine does not have many breakdowns.

Motive for purchase, intended use, and comparative models I had to let go of my previous Daheg due to circumstances, but when I was able to have it again, the Daheg had been discontinued and I didn't like the shape of the Z900RS, so I went to see the CB1300 I was interested in at the Dream Store and fell in love with the SP's candy chromos fire red color and design.
Advantages/Satisfactory points Compared to the DAEG, it has a smooth suspension with good stability and a ride quality that does not feel gapped. At 172 cm and 80 kg, my heels are slightly raised and my riding posture is not too tight. The handlebar width is narrower than that of the DAEG, so the arms are not too wide, and it is very easy to ride. I think the appearance is a matter of taste, but I think it is good.
The Brembo touch is good and the Ohlins suspension moves well and is more comfortable and stable in corners than the standard suspension.
Disadvantages/Dissatisfactory points It is a heavy place, but once you get used to it, you will be fine. The acceleration is mild compared to the Daheg, but since I don't want to ride so much, I can enjoy it more easily and safely than the Daheg because I don't have the feeling of being knocked around.
Advice for prospective buyers If possible, please try the SP as it is very comfortable and more stable in corners without the knackiness of the standard. The weight is something you have to get used to, and you can avoid standing on the ground when parking or making U-turns with a little ingenuity. The previous Daheg was a good bike that satisfied my desire for ownership, but I think the CB is superior in terms of fun to ride and security.

Check out the CB1300 Super Four rivals

The CB1300 Super Four's rivals are, of course, large-displacement naked models powered by large-displacement "straight-4" engines. Yamaha's XJR1300, Suzuki's GSX1400, and Kawasaki's ZRX1200 Daheg are direct rivals, but all have been discontinued as of 2023.

This makes one wonder what the future holds for the CB1300 Super Four, which has a 30-year history. The theory is that the "OBD2-2" will be mandatory for models produced after November 2026. According to one theory, the decision to comply with the mandatory installation of OBD2-2 for models produced after November 2026 may be the deciding factor in whether or not the CB1300 Super Four will survive. In any case, if you are planning to buy a new CB1300 Super Four, it would be a good idea to act as soon as possible.
