Suzuki will release the new V-STROM 250SX (V-Strom 250SX) in Japan on August 24, 2022, which was launched in India in May.
It is priced at (approx.) 3978 USD, (approx.) 537 USD less than the parallel two-cylinder engine V-Strom 250.
Oil-cooled SOCS engine for unpaved roads
Suzuki launched a touring model called the VStrom 250 in 2017, and the new VStrom 250SX is the second VStrom in the same displacement range. The main difference is the addition of SX (Sport Crossover) to the vehicle's name, making it compatible with unpaved roads.
Compared to the liquid-cooled, parallel twin-cylinder 250cc VSTROM 250, the SX is a compact oil-cooled single-cylinder 250cc engine that weighs 27 kg less. Also, while the VSTROM 250 has 17-inch front and rear wheels, the SX has 19-inch front wheels for better stability on unpaved roads.
The same V-Strom will offer an on-road tourer and a V-Strom 250SX that extends its range of activities to forest roads, probably aiming for the position of the touring cello, which had enjoyed a high percentage of sales among the Cello 250 models. The SX's rear carrier is large and can carry up to 5 kg.
The SX's engine, while a single-cylinder SOHC, delivers a maximum output of 26 PS, exceeding the 24 PS of the liquid-cooled, parallel twin-cylinder VSTROM 250. Of interest is the seat height, announced at 835mm, which is 35mm higher than that of the VStrom 250. It also seems higher than the 830mm of the Cerro 250, which is more than the numerical value, so we would like to confirm this by riding astride the actual vehicle.
