From the Webike Community's My Bike, the "Owner Review Summary" introduces various motorcycles based on the voices of owners who actually ride or have ridden them. This time, here's what the owners have to say about Kawasaki「Versys X 250 Tourer」.
To be honest, the Kawasaki "Versys X 250 Tourer" is this kind of bike!
The name "Versys" is a coined word of Vertex and System. The meaning comes from the fact that the system is the pinnacle of enjoying winding roads, with the sporty engine twisting and turning in a controllable upright position.
So the Versys X 250 Tourer is equipped with a liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine from the Ninja 250 series of road sports models, and the red zone starts at a whopping 12,000 rpm. It is this high-revving engine that the Versys X 250 Tourer excels at, allowing for a sporty ride through winding roads.
When actually riding the motorcycle, the high-revving engine, of course, but also the assisted slipper clutch that catches the engine brake when downshifting, and the upright position that makes it easy to grasp the next corner situation, enable sporty driving that one would never have imagined from the waist-high styling.
With its 19-inch wire-spoke wheels on the front and its waist-high off-road style, it looks like it would be good on dirt sections, but in fact, the opposite is true: sporty riding on winding roads is the Versys X 250 Tourer's forte.

Versys X 250 Tourer Owner's Voice
Here are some of the most impressive voices among the many reviews.
K.K (2022 model)
Motive for purchase, intended use, and comparative models | Since my previous MT-03 was hit by a motorcycle, I was looking for a bike that was larger, had fog lights, and could rev the engine to high rpm without hesitation in order to be more visible to oncoming traffic. And it lived up to my expectations. |
---|---|
Advantages/Satisfactory points | It is fun to ride and maneuver. Although the 250 cc engine is lacking in both torque and power when revving too high rpm, the rider can feel a weak but noticeable acceleration G, and the bike turns as expected, and even at low rpm, it is quite sticky and does not stall easily. It can operate at over 100km/h at high speeds and is easy to drive on mountain passes. The engine can be used up to high rpm like a sports motorcycle. You can even suck the bones of the motorcycle. It is an adventure tourer that can be ridden as a sports motorcycle. I don't know how much it can handle off-road, but it is a multi-purpose bike. This is the kind of bike I wanted. The slightly forward-leaning posture reduces the load on the buttocks. Also, the seat skin is very hard at first but becomes softer as you ride. I can ride for a long time without getting butt pain. A YouTube channel of a bike store called it an adventure for short legs, and they are right. This is the limit, the last thing I need. Hopefully, they would have come out with a 300cc version for overseas specs. |
Disadvantages/Dissatisfactory points | It comes with a carrier that attaches a top case, but with a top case and a tandem seat bag, I felt the rear slip outside when cornering at 80km/h. Is it because the tires are too thin? If you attach pannier cases on the left and right sides, the center of gravity is lowered, so it is stable, but overconfidence is prohibited. Since then, the pannier case has been left on. I feel that the frame stiffness is a little weak. It's nothing in cornering, but when I step on a rudder, I feel the frame twisting at the crotch and it gives me a momentary thrill. I feel that the torsional rigidity is lower than MT-03. But hey, it's usually fine. Of all the bikes I've ridden, it's the weakest against strong winds coming from the side. I thought that whether the bike was light or heavy, the degree to which it would be swept away by crosswinds would be similar, but the Versys X feels dangerous. The big 43L top case catches the wind, but it's the same with the bikes I've ridden in the past, so I wonder if it's because of the thin tires. The fuel consumption is not so good at about 21km/L. This is an equivalent exchange for sportiness, and it is reasonable because it is exchanged for fun. A 17L fuel tank is there to cover that. The front wheel danced in the mud and I lost control (I fell). In the MT-03, I think the rear wheel slipped and swayed left and right. As a result of lightening the dampers to make the handling agile, the steering wheel became violent on slippery roads. |
Advice for prospective buyers | Your evaluation depends on what you want from an adventure tourer. I think it suits me very well. Please consider installing SP Tadao's POWERBOX pipe. |
TOK (2022 Model)
Motive for purchase, intended use, and comparative models | My wife invited me. For touring |
---|---|
Advantages/Satisfactory points | I had a 250cc from XJR1300, but I had no complaints about the size because of the larger chassis. I am satisfied with it. It is unique to be able to add fog lights as an option. I put them on because they are unique. (It is also distinctive in terms of differentiation from other motorcycles.) |
Disadvantages/Dissatisfactory points | I wanted the headlights (halogen) to be LED. There is too much difference from the fog. I wish the side panniers were larger. The center is recessed and hard to use. |
Advice for prospective buyers | It is ○ that the maintenance cost burden is light because it can be driven at high speed and there is no vehicle inspection. If it's a 125, it's better to include optional insurance in the family bike special contract, but I chose a 250cc because I can't climb high speeds. Cospa is well-balanced. |
Off-Lover (2018 Model)
Motive for purchase, intended use, and comparative models | I have always wanted to ride a Kawasaki. I wanted a two-cylinder because the single-cylinder had a lot of vibration at high rpm. |
---|---|
Advantages/Satisfactory points | The weight of the vehicle prevents the body from being shaken by a slight wind. Stable and suitable for long-distance touring. Low maintenance costs due to no vehicle inspections. You can turn the wheel or ride comfortably. Less vibration even if you turn the wheel. Fuel consumption is better than expected. It averages about 29 kilometers. |
Disadvantages/Dissatisfactory points | It is 250cc but feels heavy to handle. The engine guard has little strength. When holding the engine guard, the base of the attachment is bent. Suspension is hard. It is not suitable for riding on rough forest roads. It takes a lot of skill to ride it. When straddling, it sometimes kicks the pannier case or catches your footpeg on the pannier case. It is better to use a side stand when straddling. It will prevent you from riding off the ground. |
Advice for prospective buyers | It is a good option for those who are looking for a vehicle with low maintenance costs, who want to do long tours, and who are looking for a vehicle that does not tire easily. |
Check out the competitors of Versys X 250 Tourer
The adventure bike craze has spilled over into the 250cc class, with models such as Suzuki's V-Strom 250 and Honda's CRF250 Rally in the lineup. What is interesting is the diversity of character in the lightweight 250cc adventure class.
All of them are good at traveling in the same direction, but each has different strong points, such as the CRF 250 Rally, which is good at dirt roads, and the V-Strom 250, which excels in load carrying, and their shapes are also very different from each other.
Because of their different characters, it would not be out of place to add the Versys X 250 Tourer, which excels at sports driving on winding roads and is not designed for off-road driving at all, to this list.
