KM99 is preparing to contest the legendary Suzuka 8 Hours for the first time this week – and can’t wait for the “tremendous challenge” that’s in store.
The Yamaha-powered Belgian outfit is embarking on its maiden FIM Endurance World Championship adventure in 2023 with riders Bastien Mackels, Lucas Mahias and Florian Marino.
It means the 44th Coca-Cola Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Race is unchartered territory for the team run by Mario Küpper and Gaëtan Schyns, but an event that will aid its ongoing progression.
It's a tremendous challenge that will allow the team to further improve,” a statement from the squad read.
Meanwhile, Küpper has highlighted the support the team is receiving during its maiden EWC campaign, which reached a notable milestone during the 24H SPA EWC Motos in June when KM99 registered its first race finish.
There are many people in the team,” Mario continues. “Each one had to find their place. For them, it’s also a reward. I also want to extend a big thank you to YMRE, who represents the Yamaha Racing service, for their support. We can feel that the brand takes us into account, and it’s really uplifting.
The 44th Coca-Cola Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Race, round three of the 2023 EWC season, takes place from 4-6 August.
