Illya Mykhalchyk won’t be short of confidence when the FIM Endurance World Championship resumes in Japan next week.
Mykhalchyk will start the 44th Coca-Cola Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Race on the back of winning the second of two International Deutschen Motorradmeisterschaft events in Schleiz, Germany, last weekend.
After an off limited him to fifth place in Race 1, the Ukrainian regained his top form to take victory in Race 2.
The was the real Illya Mykhalchyk, the BCC-alpha-Van Zon-BMW rider said afterwards. Despite the first race, I was confident and knew I could win after dominating the practice sessions. In the second race I felt good and the bike had real fire. So, anyone who wants to go fast should ride a BMW. Thanks to my team for doing a great job, I'm happy to be back. On the way we continue.
Honda Viltaïs Racing EWC rider Florian Alt won the first IDM race in Schleiz and was third in the second counter behind Mykhalchyk and Leandro Mercado, his EWC team-mate.
