From the Webike Community's My Bike, the "Owner Review Summary" introduces various motorcycles based on the voices of owners who actually ride or have ridden them. This time, here's what the owners have to say about Kawasaki「Z250」.

To be honest, the Kawasaki "Z250" is this kind of bike!

カワサキZ250

Among the 250cc class, which is popular because it can be ridden with a standard motorcycle license and is easy to maintain due to the lack of vehicle inspections, naked models have an upright position and lightweight chassis, making it easier to ride from commuting to touring. In terms of weight, single-cylinder models such as Honda's CB250R and Suzuki's Gixxer 250 weigh in the 150kg range, while parallel twin-cylinder models such as this Z250 and Yamaha's MT-25 are in the 160kg range, making many 250cc naked models light and easy to handle.

Kawasaki's Z250 is a parallel-twin model and weighs 164 kg, making it a bit on the heavy side for a 250 cc naked, but it has a parallel-twin engine that has higher-revving characteristics than a single-cylinder engine and can draw more power.

This gives it good acceleration, and it has many advantages over single-cylinder 250cc naked, not only in top speed but also in overtaking acceleration on highways. If you frequently use highways, it is better to choose a parallel-twin 250cc model than a single-cylinder 250cc model.

However, the parallel-twin 250cc naked models tend to be more expensive than the single-cylinder 250cc naked models. This is due to the cost of building a parallel twin engine, which is not surprising considering the better performance.

As a versatile naked vehicle, it can be used for everything, from daily commuting to work and school to long-distance touring on highways and winding roads.

Although the model underwent major model changes in 2019, including a frame renewal and weight reduction, the pre-2019 model has a fuel tank capacity of 17 liters (currently 14 liters), making it very attractive as a touring motorcycle with a range of more than 400 km.

Motive for purchase, intended use, and comparative models When I went to my favorite motorcycle shop for maintenance on my commuter scooter, I looked at the motorcycles on display in the store and said, "I haven't been able to ride lately, but my inspection is coming up. What should I do?
You hear that trade-in values are rising due to the shortage of semiconductors, etc., and you consider switching motorcycles.
When he checked the trade-in value, the answer was more than he expected, and he decided to buy a Z250 as a motorcycle that he could purchase within the range of the trade-in value.
Advantages/Satisfactory points It is light to ride and push. It was also a reason for me to buy a new motorcycle because my old one was heavy. It is about the same weight as my old one. It can run at about 4,000 rpm on level ground. I thought I would need to raise the engine rpm more, but I was betrayed in a good way. However, it is difficult to accelerate only by gas pedal work.
Disadvantages/Dissatisfactory points The rear seat is too high. The rear seat is too high.
The tandem seat is an extra. It is better to think that there is no room for luggage under the seat. The water temperature gauge rises quite a bit when riding in the city in mid-summer. A larger radiator is needed.
Advice for prospective buyers I think this is a good motorcycle for a returning rider or the first motorcycle for a first-time buyer. I would also use this motorcycle to review my riding technique from the basics. Since there are no vehicle inspections, it would also reduce maintenance costs. However, even without inspections, I would like to have a motorcycle store maintain it from time to time to keep it with me for a long time.

Motive for purchase, intended use, and comparative models City touring and city riding,
Comparison with MT25, NINJA250, CB250, Gixxer
Advantages/Satisfactory points From the back, it is hard to tell the difference from NINJA250. It is very easy to ride for beginners and those who do not like to ride on a separate motorcycle and is great for touring. I think two-cylinder 250cc machines are the best balanced. Weight, maintainers, etc.
Two cylinders are optimal.
Disadvantages/Dissatisfactory points The lack of a cowl makes it more susceptible to wind at high speeds. Widing is also more difficult with the separate handlebar. The rigidity is also better, but the fatigue is less with the bar hangs.
Advice for prospective buyers I think it is a good motorcycle for beginners.
I am a big bike rider and bought it as a fun motorcycle.
I think it is a good balance in many ways because it is inexpensive to maintain and maintain.
Especially the fuel consumption is about 30km per liter when touring.

Motive for purchase, intended use, and comparative models He became interested in motorcycles under the influence of his boss at work, who was a fan of Kawasaki, so he naturally decided on a Kawasaki company motorcycle. I decided on a Z250 because it was easy to ride, didn't require any inspection fees, and seemed like a good motorcycle to maintain and learn about motorcycles.
Actually, I was thinking of the SL type, but it was not available when I went to the store, so it became this type. (If anything, I would have preferred the green coloring instead of the white one.)
Advantages/Satisfactory points I have no complaints at the moment, I can ride it at high speeds, and although I sometimes feel a lack of power when climbing, it can be compensated for by the number of revolutions. I think it handles well. The fuel consumption is good and I can save the cost of inspection (I have to do the maintenance by myself or at a store), which helps my wallet.
Taxes are also low. It has a secure feeling because of its firm footing, and I would recommend it to beginners.
Disadvantages/Dissatisfactory points I think it is the lack of power that I sometimes feel, and the fact that it is hard to get the neutral to come out.
(According to a friend of mine, it is a characteristic of Kawasaki that it is hard to get out of neutral.)
(A friend of mine says that this is a characteristic of Kawasaki.) Neutral is not that much of a problem because it becomes easier to get out of neutral when the motorcycle is warmed up to some extent.
Advice for prospective buyers Failure is not more than 3 years and 10000 km.
I think it is easy to maintain.
It is not suitable for tandem.

Check out Z250's competitors

The Z250's sibling is the Ninja 250, a full-cowl model. The Ninja 250 shares the same engine and body as the Ninja 250, which has a racy full cowl and separate handlebars, while the Z250 is a naked-style motorcycle with bar handlebars. The Ninja 250 and Z250 are almost the same chassis but have different suspension and suspension specifications, and slightly different caster and trail. The Z250 has a full cowl and a naked body, and both have their own character.

Incidentally, in the 250cc class, Kawasaki used to have the Z250SL and Ninja 250SL models, but these models have a single-cylinder engine instead of a parallel twin.
