Atsumi Cocoro reckons he can be even faster when he returns to the FIM Endurance World Championship’s top division for next month’s 44th Coca-Cola Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Race.
The Japanese normally rides for OG Motorsport World Endurance Team in the Dunlop Superstock Trophy. But with the Suzuka event not part of the stock-based FIM Endurance World Cup schedule, Cocoro is returning to the S-Pulse Dream Racing line-up for his home round of the headlining Formula EWC category.
And after finishing fourth from 13th on the grid in 2022, Cocoro is hoping for another strong Suzuka showing.
Posting on social media during the two-day test at the legendary Japanese venue earlier this month, Cocoro wrote: I'm getting more comfortable with setting on dry [conditions], I’m now able to run at a much faster average than last year. I think the three riders [in the team] have almost the same time and is a powerful team so I’m looking forward to the main event.
Cocoro’s most recent EWC appearance ended in frustration when engine failure forced him and team-mates Camille Hedelin and Roberto Rolfo to retire from the 24H SPA EWC Motos last month.
