Giovanni Baggi had nothing but praise for his Aviobike Dunlop Superstock Trophy team after it made it to the finish of last month’s 24H SPA EWC Motos following a battling performance.
Riders Martin Choi, David Henriques and Yves Lindegger joined forces to finish 11th among the FIM Endurance World Cup ranks in 22nd overall after they were forced to make several unscheduled pitstops due to a technical issue.
Team Manager Baggi said: It was the most gruelling 24 hours we've ever done, but in the end, thanks to the immense commitment of the whole team who worked a lot on the bike during the race, we managed to finish, which for a small team like ours is the most important thing.
We have some experience in endurance, but this race still taught us a lot and I'm really enthusiastic about the behaviour of the whole team who managed to give me and each other the smile of seeing the finish line.
The first 10 hours were a nightmare because we had a lot of trouble with the electrical system. But the whole team showed great concentration and lucidity: the bike kept stalling, but the guys continued to work with their heads down without ever losing their temper. In the end they sorted it out around one in the morning. For this I have to congratulate the whole garage.
The conduct of the race by the riders has been perfect. I'm really happy to have brought the bike to the finish line and I want to thank the whole team and all our sponsors. Now we start preparing for the Bol d'Or where we want to present ourselves in the best possible conditions to show that our potential in terms of speed is higher than what we showed at Spa-Francorchamps.
Aviobike will be back on EWC duty when Circuit Paul Ricard hosts the season-deciding Bol d’Or from 14-17 September.
