This corner introduces one MY BIKE submitted to Webike Community every week.
The model introduced this time is Suzuki「Savage 650」and the owner is "Webike User".

The "Savage 650" was a V-twin cruiser, a style that shattered the conventional wisdom of the time! The Suzuki Savage 650, released in 1986, had a style that shattered the conventional wisdom of the time. As you can see, it was equipped with an eye-catching engine with a huge cylinder that stood almost vertically. With its square combustion chamber (94mm x 94mm bore) and the lightweight (172kg) typical of air-cooled single engines, this model radiated a personality that was unlike that of large cruisers.

It was only sold in Japan for two years, and there are believed to be only a few vehicles in existence. This time, we pick up the voices of Webike users who chose such a Savage 650 as their favorite motorcycle.
Despite the name "savage," the slender styling is stylish.
If you are intrigued by the unique and distinctive styling, please read the impressions!

Perhaps because of its unique styling, the Savage 650 was very popular overseas and continued to be sold in North America until 2020.

FROM MY BIKE COMMENTS

Motive for purchase

I was looking for a GB or SRX to ride a big single, and I was fascinated by the American style Savage.

Advantages

- The design doesn't seem to be well-received, but I really like it.
- Fuel consumption is about 20~25 km/liter.
- I love the torque that comes out from low speed.
- Crisp exhaust sound.
- Light and easy to ride like a moped.

Disadvantages

- Luggage loading was not considered.
- I wanted a trip meter.
- Wind pressure is a little hard to deal with on the highway.
- Not easy to maintain; often several parts have to be removed to fix one part. However, the structure is simple, so once disassembly is complete, work is easy.

Advice for prospective buyers

Despite its humble existence, it is a fun bike to ride and look at, and you will never get tired of it.

Loadability and wind pressure can be handled by installing custom parts.
I like the stock design, so I don't usually install them, but I do install a rear carrier and screen when touring long distances.

Some people say that the engine is based on the same Suzuki DR650, but I think it is a different system because of the different bore x stroke and the fact that oil cooling elements are incorporated in that one.
