Marc Bongers, the BMW Motorrad Motorsport Director, said it was a “pity” that Tecmas-MRP-BMW Racing Team couldn’t convert its pole position into a second successive Dunlop Superstock Trophy victory.

The Franco-Belgian team topped the FIM Endurance World Cup standings after Loïc Arbel, Jan Bühn and Kenny Foray combined to win the 24 Heures Motos in April. But it’s non-finish at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps due to a mechanical issue means it slips to fourth in the provisional order with September’s title-deciding Bol d’Or remaining.

It’s a pity that the Tecmas-MRP-BMW Racing Team couldn’t bring their excellent performance to the finish due to a technical problem, Bongers said. But the team worked well and tried to fix the problem. They were able to return to the track and set very strong lap times but, unfortunately, the problem recurred.

Chromeburner-RAC 41-Honda leads the FIM Endurance World Cup by six points ahead of Honda No Limits. National Motos Honda, which topped the Superstock classification at Spa, is third, two points further back.
