Don’t Forget, Do You Change Gear Oil Regularly on 2-Stroke Models?

Gear oil that can use 4-stroke engine oil

Mechanics who have experience overhauling 2-stroke engines may know that many engines that have not had their gear oil changed properly often have damage to the transmission, shift drum, and clutch. For example, when disassembling a Kawasaki Mach series engine, the condition of the drivetrain parts may be extremely poor. This is clearly the price to pay for riders who have been running all their lives ignoring gear oil changes. If the gear oil had been changed regularly and care had not been neglected, the condition would not have been so bad in some cases.
Today, there are high-performance oils and high-performance additives that can be used to increase the life of drive-train engine parts. In this case, 10% Super Zoil (Gold Label) for 4-stroke engines was added to the gear oil and injected. Remember that 4-stroke engine oil with high-performance additives can be used together with gear oil for 2-stroke engines.

Role of 2-stroke engine oil for combustion

When you fill the oil tank with two-stroke engine oil, it is important to remember the amount of oil you injected and to know how much engine oil you consumed based on the mileage. Many older vehicles do not have oil indicator lights, so you will not find yourself with an empty tank when you realize it is empty. This is only a special case, but be careful when the amount of engine oil you have injected is decreasing rapidly. This is because the oil pump or the one-way valve in the oil line may have been left open, allowing engine oil to drip into the crankcase.
Once, when I kick-started the engine without realizing it, a large amount of engine oil went into the combustion chamber, destroying the pistons and bending the connecting rods due to the so-called water hammer phenomenon. Since that experience, I have started to put tape on my motorcycle after returning home so that I can clearly see the amount of oil remaining.

For lubrication points around the engine

Super Zoil Spray, a product containing oil mixed with a high-performance additive in a spray bottle, is highly recommended for use in a variety of areas. If the change-rod linkage is not moving smoothly, or if the side stand is not returning to its original position and feels stiff, this spray can be used to smooth out the operation. While all-purpose rust-preventive penetrating lubricant sprays are also effective, they may not last as long.
We should be aware of the existence of such products.

POINT

Point 1 - 2-stroke engine oil for mixed fuel is the oil to burn

Point 2 - Gear oil is intended to lubricate the sliding parts of the transmission and clutch

Point 3 - Rapid decrease in engine oil is a sign of trouble.

I use good-quality engine oil, so I'm fine! Even owners of 2-stroke engine models tend to forget to change the gear oil. When was the last time you changed the gear oil? It seems that there are a surprisingly large number of users who do not remember to change the gear oil.
As mentioned above, when practicing engine overhaul of old 2-stroke sports models, dog wear of the transmission gears and uneven wear of the clutch outer and inner bosses are of more concern than crankshaft and piston wear. Due in part to the current old car movement, oversize pistons and replacement piston rings are becoming more readily available, but transmission gears and clutch outer rings remain out of print, and there is nothing that can be done about rattling wear. The transmission and clutch systems in this area are still easy to obtain. If the transmission and clutch parts were more readily available, we would be able to carry on the legacy of the 20th-century engines, but things are not always as they seem.

In many cases, there is no oil level gauge or oil level viewing window for gear oil in 2-stroke engines, so once the gear oil is completely drained and the old oil is drained with the drain bolt removed, the oil remaining in the gearbox can be drained as much as possible by laying the car body on its side just to be safe This can be done. In many cases, depending on the model, even if you think you have drained the old gear oil, it is actually still in the engine.
In some cases, the engine may not be aware of this, and when the default amount of oil is added, it sprays out of the breather, causing the engine to go into a "why?"

Some models have a level bolt at the bottom of the filler where gear oil is injected. The oil is injected with the vehicle in a vertical position, and when the oil overflows through the level bolt hole, the injection is complete. There are a variety of cases, so let's take a look at gear oil for 2-stroke engines.
