From the Webike Community's My Bike, the "Owner Review Summary" introduces various motorcycles based on the voices of owners who actually ride or have ridden them. This time, here's what the owners have to say about  Honda「Rebel 500」.

To be honest, Honda "Rebel 500" is this kind of bike!

Did you know that the very popular Rebel 250 has a big brother, the Rebel 500, with a 471cc parallel twin-cylinder engine that was introduced along with the Rebel 250 in 2017? They use almost the same chassis and have very similar silhouettes, but while the Rebel 250 has a liquid-cooled 249cc single-cylinder engine, the Rebel 500 has a liquid-cooled 471cc parallel twin-cylinder engine.

The reason why I wrote "almost identical" is because the Rebel 250 and Rebel 500 look almost identical, but when you ride them, you will notice that they have completely different body characters, not to mention the sense of power that comes from the engine displacement.
While the Rebel 250 has nimble handling and a compact body, the Rebel 500 is characterized by a stable and relaxed ride that is typical of large motorcycles.

The secret behind this difference in character lies in the mounting points of the frame and engine. Although they use "almost the same chassis," the Rebel 500 has a stiffer "bracket" connecting the engine and frame than the Rebel 250, resulting in a stiffer and more rigid frame that can handle the power of a large bike.

For this reason, the Rebel 500 is more stable in a straight line than the Rebel 250, and it gives the impression of being a big and sturdy bike. In fact, when riding in the high-speed range on highways, there is plenty of room, giving the impression of a more relaxed ride.

Although writing this may make the Rebel 500 seem like a higher hurdle, the unparalleled low seat height of 690 mm is exactly the same as that of the Rebel 250. If you want to ride a big bike but are concerned about its stability, then the Rebel 500 is the right choice for you! If you want to ride a big bike but are concerned about its stability, why don't you try the Rebel 500?

What do Webike users think of the Rebel 500?

Average owner satisfaction rating is 3.91 out of 5 (79 people)

It should be noted that the evaluation scores for looks, handling, driving, and fuel economy exceeded 4 points. Some commented that although it is a large model, its compact chassis (comparable to a 250cc model) and lightweight (less than 200kg) made it easy to start riding.

On the other hand, there were few complaints about load ability, which received a low score of 2.59 points. Since it is a popular model, including the Rebel 250, there seems to be an extensive lineup of side bags and carriers.

Motive for purchase, intended use, and comparative models He is not particularly confident in his physical strength, so he chose a large two-wheeled vehicle with good stability and a vehicle weight of 200 kg or less. He is mainly a touring rider. We compared Suzuki SV650, Honda NC750, and Honda Rebel 1100. Unfortunately, the arrival of the car was unstable under Corona, so he decided to go with the Rebel 500 recommended by Honda Dream, which he consulted with them (in terms of arrival schedule).
Advantages/Satisfactory points  Since we are mainly touring, we mainly drive on mountain passes (mountainous areas) at high speeds. I am not young and have no complaints about riding at my own pace. Uphill torque and feeling.
Downhill handling and feeling. Slightly shallow bank angle. I think it has a taste that you can enjoy without feeling scared.
If you are only careful not to over pace yourself, you will surely enjoy it to the fullest.
Disadvantages/Dissatisfactory points Lack of RPM sensation due to lack of tachometer.
Brakes are sensibly lax. While I have no complaints about the current model, I have concerns when I want to be a little more aggressive. Although it is not an aggressive type of car to begin with, I think it has a character that makes you want to be aggressive when you enter a mountain pass. This is a good aspect, but does it feel like a halfway house? I think you have to choose how you ride.
Advice for prospective buyers The vehicle is about the same size as a quarter bike.
It is easy to maneuver for beginners. However, it is a powerful large motorcycle. No trouble for 8 months after purchase.
Around 13,000 km, the rear tire became slippery. The front tire was just on the slip line but was replaced. Both sprockets and chains were replaced at the same time.
Excessive oil change (10W-40 GII) every 3000 km.

Motive for purchase, intended use, and comparative models I had been riding a large car for a long time, but as I got older, I couldn't stand to get out of it, so I bought it, partly because I fell in love at first sight.
Advantages/Satisfactory points  Simple and sleek in style
Lightweight and easy to get on and off the ground
Can be backed up while straddling
Disadvantages/Dissatisfactory points The indicator and horn switch is upside down.
I got used to it right away, but when I put on the blinker, it felt like there was something stuck.
The suspension feels soft and fluffy. The position of the steering wheel and the step are too far away from each other. It has a little less power.
Advice for prospective buyers There are some minor complaints, but the pros outweigh the cons. Some people comment that the price is too high for the cheap parts.
I am very happy with my purchase.

Motive for purchase, intended use, and comparative models I was looking for an American (cruiser) that was just right for my age, size, and strength, and when it went on sale in April, I decided on a test ride (250cc).
Advantages/Satisfactory points  Good foot grounding is lightweight and easy to maneuver. The uphill climb from mid-speed is very comfortable. No pain in the buttocks even when touring long distances. Smart styling.
Disadvantages/Dissatisfactory points Lack of low-speed torque.
The front tires are too heavy.
Advice for prospective buyers The bike has good footing and easy handling and is suitable for everyone. Women and short legs are no problem at all. I am satisfied with it, even though it is not a torque bike for a 500cc, parallel twin-cylinder.
I would like to ride it leisurely for day trips and long-distance touring.

Check out the competitors of the Rebel 500

The Rebel series has exploded in popularity among cruiser models.
In 2021, the Rebel 1100, equipped with a 1082cc engine derived from the Africa Twin, will be introduced, with three displacements: 250, 500, and 1100. The Rebel 1100 also includes a dual-clutch transmission version and a Rebel 1100T with a large cowl.

Kawasaki's recently introduced Eliminator/SE is close to the Rebel 500 in terms of displacement, and its liquid-cooled engine and low-and-long form are similar in character.
In terms of the impression of the chassis's sturdiness when driven, it can be said that the Eliminator/SE is similar to the Rebel 500.
