From the Webike Community's My Bike, the "Owner Review Summary" introduces various motorcycles based on the voices of owners who actually ride or have ridden them. This time, here's what the owners have to say about Moto Guzzi「V7 RACER!!」.
To be honest, Moto Guzzi's "V7 RACER" is this kind of bike!
The V7 RACER is a neoclassical-style sport naked from the Italian motorcycle brand Moto Guzzi. Based on the V7 series, which is gaining popularity as the company's standard naked, the V7 RACER is a manufacturer-made custom model that makes lavish use of exclusive parts.
The V7 RACER debuted in 2010 as a variation of the V7. While the standard naked V7 is equipped with bar handlebars, the V7 RACER has spartan separate handlebars. The base model, V7, was inspired by Moto Guzzi's famous V7 Sport of yesteryear. Since the V7 Sport was also a motorsports vehicle, the race-inspired V7 RACER may be considered its legitimate successor.
The functional parts, including Moto Guzzi's traditional air-cooled OHV longitudinally mounted V-twin engine, are inherited from the base model, but many exclusive parts for the V7 RACER are used on the exterior. The most notable feature is the beautifully plated fuel tank.
The chrome finish is a perfect match to the Moto Guzzi-like shape of the tank, with the lower part of the tank protruding horizontally. The strong contrast with the red-painted frame is also striking. Exclusive exterior parts such as the classic meter visor and tail cowl in the shape of a number plate also accentuate the styling.
The base model V7 is a big bike with a compact chassis comparable to a 400cc naked bike and is supported by its affordable power. The V7 RACER is no different, with a comfortable ride that even big bike beginners and small riders can handle with ease. Although it has a separate handlebar, it does not force the rider to lean forward radically like modern super sports models, and the riding position is closer to that of naked models. Contrary to its spartan image, it is a friendly and user-friendly model.
The V7 has evolved with each model change, from the V7 II to the V7 III, and the V7 RACER has also been upgraded to keep pace. In 2020, an anniversary model was released to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the V7 RACER, but as of 2023, it has disappeared from the lineup. Since Moto Guzzi is a high-hobbyist and maniacal motorcycle manufacturer, the number of V7 RACERs sold in Japan is not large. It is rare to find a used one, and you should consider yourself lucky if you do.
However, it is a bad idea to rush into a vehicle of poor quality. You should search patiently until you find a vehicle that you are satisfied with. The V7 RACER is a bike with a deep riding experience that is well worth the effort.

It should be noted that the car has received high ratings for fuel efficiency and looks, with a score of over 4. Despite its sporty looks, it has a fuel economy of over 22 km per liter and a cruising range of over 500 km in some cases.
On the other hand, as for load ability, which did not reach 3 points, the lack of it seems to be compensated by installing carriers and side bags.

V7 RACER Owner's Voice
Here are some of the most impressive voices among the many reviews.

Motive for purchase, intended use, and comparative models | The president of the dealership showed us pictures he had taken at the Milano show in Italy, and we decided to purchase one. Although the number of units was not limited, the number of units supplied to Japan was limited, and the car was sold out relatively early. |
---|---|
Advantages/Satisfactory points | The impact of its appearance, Guzzi's traditional racer red frame and chrome tank, and the Le Mans 850's inherited design of the bikini cowl. The unique sound of the longitudinally mounted V-twin engine. The maintenance-free shaft drive (no chain oil splashes) and the size of the body make it easy to maneuver. |
Disadvantages/Dissatisfactory points | After the car was delivered, the final gear (differential) housing leaked oil several times, but even after several repairs, the leakage did not go away. I put in 85W 140, a little harder gear oil, just to be safe (the manufacturer shipped with softer 75W 90 gear oil). I have used the harder gear oil for two and a half years with no problems. It passed the first vehicle inspection. |
Advice for prospective buyers | The engine output is the same as that of the Kawasaki W800 (although the engine layout is different). I feel it has a unique flavor. Repair parts are not stocked in Japan and have to be ordered from Italy, so it takes time. Since it is shaft-driven, a large tire cannot be installed on the rear due to space limitations. Moto Guzzi celebrates its 100th anniversary. |

Motive for purchase, intended use, and comparative models | I was riding a 2014 Moto Guzzi Stone but had an accident and scrapped it. When I was looking for the same model again because of the leg protection on the cylinder and the fun I had on it, I found a V7Racer of the same model and bought it. It had 2700km on the odometer. |
---|---|
Advantages/Satisfactory points | The lower handlebar position and step position than Stone is a bit confusing, but once you get used to it, the position is enough to be fine. It is lightweight. It is easy to handle. It is easy to ride in any situation, but it is also quite stimulating and very fun. The fuel consumption is good and the tank capacity is large, so it can run 500km. |
Disadvantages/Dissatisfactory points | Carriers, bags, etc. are necessary due to low load capacity. The lights are dim. Blinker quality is low. There are some optional parts, but not many external parts. |
Advice for prospective buyers | Racers of the first generation 2012 or so should check to see if the plastic tank has been replaced with a countermeasure. Although it has only 50 horsepower, it can be used, so it is not to be underestimated on mountain passes. The handling is good and straightforward, so it may be good for beginners. |

Advantages/Satisfactory points | High straight-line stability Turns well once you get used to it, and has a deep banking angle Good fuel economy 22-liter tank capacity for a long cruising range Single disc and bias tires are easy to maintain Surprisingly, it does not break down easily (~43,000 km). Lightweight, easy to push and pull Good to look at, good to ride, and good to park |
---|---|
Disadvantages/Dissatisfactory points | Hands go numb in some speed ranges. 5-speed transmission Seems to rust easily Not a complaint, but not fast by any means. I want load ability, but a carrier is. |
Advice for prospective buyers | Usage: Shopping, travel, daily use Memories: Riding 720 km a day, 1800 km in 4 days, around the Shimokita Peninsula. There is vibration, but I am not too tired. |
