From the Webike Community's My Bike, the "Owner Review Summary" introduces various motorcycles based on the voices of owners who actually ride or have ridden them. This time, here's what the owners have to say about Triumph「Bonneville T100!」.
To be honest, Triumph "Bonneville T100" is this kind of bike!
The Bonneville T100 is a neo-classic motorcycle from the British motorcycle manufacturer Triumph. The "Bonneville" in the model name is a reference to the Bonneville Salt Flats, a salt lake in the United States. A machine named after the site was introduced at the end of the 1950s to commemorate the world speed record set by a Triumph machine at a top speed record meeting held there.
The Bonneville became popular as a sports bike, but Triumph itself disappeared in the early 1970s due to financial difficulties. The brand was resurrected several times, and in the 2000s, the Bonneville was revived as a neo-classic model, which continues to be popular today.
When first revived, the Bonneville was equipped with an air-cooled engine, but models from 2016 onward are water-cooled. However, the engine block has cooling fins like an air-cooled engine and is equipped with a radiator, but it is hidden directly behind the front steering wheel. The current model complies with Euro 5 emission regulations, and since it is a modern motorcycle, the intake system is an injection. However, the throttle body has an old-fashioned cover and a design reminiscent of a carburetor.
Thus, the vintage feel of the bike is thorough. Perhaps the Bonneville T100 should be called a retrofit bike with updated old mechanisms rather than a neo-classic bike. The styling is that seamless.
However, the only thing old about it is its looks; mechanically, it is state-of-the-art. The engine is Triumph's iconic vertical twin with a displacement of 900cc. The most distinctive feature is the use of a 270° phase crankshaft.
Triumph's two-cylinder engines of the past used a 360° crank, in which the pistons were aligned and moved up and down at the same time. Almost all models now use a 270° phase crank. This is said to be beneficial in reducing temporary vibrations and providing superior traction performance while retaining a rich heartbeat. Throttle control is ride-by-wire, and ABS and traction control are also standard.
Although the vehicle's weight is in proportion to its displacement, it's low seat height and low center of gravity make it easy to maneuver. Unless you want to attack the maximum speed on the highway, you will not feel that the power is insufficient. On winding roads, the bike's nimble handling and ease of use make sport riding more enjoyable than you might expect. This is one bike that I would recommend to many people, from veterans to big bike beginners.
On top of that, the Bonneville T100's stylishness is what makes it so appealing.

Bonneville T100 Owner's Voice
Here are some of the most impressive voices among the many reviews.

Motive for purchase, intended use, and comparative models | I fell in love at first sight with a used car at a motorcycle store and signed a contract immediately. |
---|---|
Advantages/Satisfactory points | The last air-cooled bonnet. Cool. A presence that fills you with a sense of ownership. Driving performance that belies its appearance. With the backstep installed, it has the fighting power to enjoy knee scraping on mountain passes and overtaking torque on highways. A machine that is fun to look at and ride. |
Disadvantages/Dissatisfactory points | It's heavy. It is too heavy to pull out of the parking lot to start riding. Fuel economy is not good at 15km/L in town driving, and the tank capacity is small, so I have to be careful about refueling on long tours. When I parked the bicycle, an old man came up to me and said, "Oh, is that a tiger?" (Unfortunately, the number of old men is decreasing every year. |
Advice for prospective buyers | There were almost no breakdowns. I think Triumph is one of the most trouble-free foreign motorcycles. Probably because of the Japanese suspension and electrical system. This bike is really good. I regret giving it up now. |

Motive for purchase, intended use, and comparative models | At first, the BMW F700GS was my main choice, but the rival Bonneville became more and more prominent in my brain and I ended up purchasing it. |
---|---|
Advantages/Satisfactory points | Old-fashioned styling (in a good way). It has a charm that does not fade away because of its classicism. Twin sound (OEM-optional sports muffler). Easy-to-handle size and power. |
Disadvantages/Dissatisfactory points | The standard load capacity is nothing. No hazard, helmet holder, or onboard tools. The stock muffler sound is quiet and completely unattractive. The headlight is not properly fixed. Poor brakes. |

Motive for purchase, intended use, and comparative models | CBX400F -> Steed -> TW -> FTR W400 -> Bonneville T100 I decided to buy a Triumph when I got my large motorcycle license! I ride it for touring and commuting. |
---|---|
Advantages/Satisfactory points | Style, ease of riding, fuel economy My dream Triumph! The winding road, high speed, city driving, good total balance ^ ^. |
Disadvantages/Dissatisfactory points | Can't carry luggage, only up to 5 speeds, black shows a lot of scratches and dirt. Not fast, oil change is quite expensive. |

The Bonneville T100 has a sibling, the Bonneville T120 with a 1200cc engine. The two models are almost the same in size, but the T120 is 300 cc larger in displacement and more powerful throughout the entire range. The T120 is also more luxurious in terms of equipment, with a power mode that allows the driver to change output settings, and double-disc brakes. However, it would be premature to assume that the T100 is a lower-priced version.
The T100 is lighter than the T120, has better maneuverability, and is more nimble in handling.
Although the two vehicles are similar in style, their driving characteristics are different from the impression one gets from their appearance, and each has its own unique riding style. If you want to compare them, you should definitely test-ridethem and think about which one suits you better.
Triumph also offers an extensive lineup of neo-classic models equipped with vertical twin engines. The Bonneville series also includes the Bonneville Speedmaster and Bonneville Bobber, both of which are custom-built with a cruiser's touch. There is also the on-and-off look of the Scrambler 900/1200, the more nimble Speed Twin 900/1200, and the café-style Thruxton RS. Why not take the time to examine them carefully, and get yourself completely immersed in the world of vertical twins?
