The V-Strom 800DE, unveiled at the Milan show in November 2022, is expected to be priced for sale in Japan. It will probably go on sale at around 9235 USD excluding tax, which is lower than the price announced in the US in mid-January. The difference between the Tenere 700 and XL750 Transalp is also interesting.
Japan's price of Vstrom 800DE will be cheaper than in the US and Europe
The new VSTROM 800DE (DE = Dual Explorer), equipped with a parallel two-cylinder 776cc engine, is not a replacement for the VSTROM 650/XT, but a brand new model in the new lineup. The VStrom 650/XT is set to continue and is priced at (approx.) 7365 USD / 77005 USD.
In contrast, the VSTROM 800DE has an expected price of around 9235 USD excluding tax. Assuming 9235 USD, the price would be (approx.) 10155 USD including tax, which seems certain to be lower than the US price of 11,349 dollars and the Italian price of 11,500 euros. Japan's release date is expected to be around March.
The 2022 model of the rival Ténéré 700 is priced at (approx.) 9900 USD. However, since the 2023 model of the XSR700, which was announced on January 13, is up 510 USD without change, the price of the Ténéré 700 is also likely to increase. Incidentally, the 2023 model uses a TFT meter, but the Japan version is likely to continue with the current LCD meter.
In addition, Honda's rival XL750 Transalp will be released in late May. The price is reported to be around 1.3 million yen including tax, so it will be on par with the VStrom 800DE and Ténéré 700. The year 2023 should be a year of a flurry of mid-sized Japanese-made adventurers, and the market is expected to come alive.
