Yamaha's new 155cc scooter AUGUR, unveiled in Taiwan, is an advanced version of the X FORCE, which was launched in Japan in June 2022. The highlight of the model is a number of advanced features not found on the X FORCE.
Scooter Adopts Cornering Lights! Switchable to a yellow bulb
Yamaha's newly released Auger is the X-Force, the successor to the Majesty S on the inside, with the main new headlight and front-end equipment and design. It is positioned as a high-end scooter with the introduction of color TFT meters and enhanced smartphone-linked functions.
A unique feature of the Auger is its cornering light, a first for a scooter from a Japanese manufacturer. The Y-LLA (Yamaha Lean Light Assist) headlight emits an auxiliary light when the vehicle is leaning while cornering to illuminate the inside of the vehicle, which is difficult to illuminate with a normal headlight.
In addition, the Y-AU (Yamaha Adjustable Color Temp/Variable Color Temperature Headlight) can be switched between W (white) and Y (yellow/warm) to improve visibility in rain or fog. The ability to switch color temperatures in a single unit has never been available before.
Other features of the Auger include a 4.3-inch color TFT meter, which is not available on the X-Force, and a more versatile display. It can also be connected to a smartphone to keep track of incoming calls and speed limits, as well as a navigation function with text and arrows.
According to sources, the introduction of this auger in Japan is currently unknown. The likelihood of its introduction in Japan is low, according to the source.
YAMAHA AUGUR. A 155cc scooter based on the X-Force. It is developed and produced in Taiwan. Like the X-Force, it uses the variable valve VVA and traction control.
YAMAHA X FORCE. A 155cc light two-wheeled rapid scooter positioned as the successor to the Majesty S with a new model to be released in June 2022. This model is also produced in Taiwan and imported to Japan.
The front view of the Auger's style is designed to resemble a vehicle of the near future. The position lights spread out in three directions are unique.
The X-Force, which shares its body with the AUGUR, has powerful super sports-style twin headlights. The lights and blinkers are bulb-type and look old-fashioned, which makes the Auger's differences stand out.
It is equipped with the same liquid-cooled 4-valve engine as the NMAX 155, but the Auger has the same step-through body and pipe handlebars as the X-Force. The seat height is also higher at 815mm, the same as the X-Force.
This is the X-Force. Comparing the two, the tail cowl and tail lights seem to be the same around the rear. The X-Force's blinkers are bulbs, while the Auger uses LEDs.
Y-LLA illuminates the turning direction when the vehicle is tilted. It is not known if it uses an IMU to detect the attitude angle, but the FJR1300AS is an example of an IMU used for cornering lights.
The color temperature of the LEDs can be changed from Y-AU to yellow. This is a welcome feature when driving in foggy conditions.
The meter uses a 4.2-inch color TFT display. The engine red zone starts at 8,000 rpm, which differs from the X-Force's 10,000 rpm. The maximum output of the Auger has not yet been announced.
The app can even check the air pressure of the front and rear tires.
